The UK Operations Director role is a key member of the European Team, reporting to the European Director D&D within the ELA OMS organisation, and plays a critical leadership role in delivery of BU contracts in the UK. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Line Management:
    • Project managers
    • Technical and waste management team
    • EHS team
    • Quality team
    • Business Support team

 

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling D&D Operations resources, processes and procedures for execution of all the D&D projects in the UK.

 

  • Leads the recruitment, development, and retention strategies that underpin UK D&D resource planning, ensuring utilisation targets and financial objectives are met through efficient use of resources across all UK delivery projects.  Oversight of recruitment, onboarding and training of UK D&D resources including WEC employees and agency staff (contingent labour), working alongside HR. Interfaces with Global Sales organisation to ensure alignment between sales and resource planning.

 

  • Fulfils Westinghouse director role on a JV board (TDA).  TDA is an unincorporated joint venture between Westinghouse, Jacobs and Atkins which is delivering work to Sellafield via the Decommissioning Delivery Partnership.

 

  • Leads the compliance processes ensuring adherence to internal and external quality standards and requirements for BU in UK.  Works in partnership with the Westinghouse global QEHS team to ensure all processes, procedures, quality assurance, ISO accreditation are in place and adhered to.   

 

  • Responsible for developing UK business processes to improve quality, reduce costs, increase efficiencies/productivity, and increase customer satisfaction.

 

  • Supports the MTP development and budget setting process.

 

  • Leads the interface with the Westinghouse Global Supply Chain for support to UK D&D project delivery.

 

  • Leads on social value and communications for the UK D&D team including:
    • The development and implementation of our Social Value Plan, as required under client contracts.
    • Sponsorship of WeWIN (Wellness and Inclusivity Network) supporting our EDI programme.
    • Leading the monthly All Hands Communications for the UK team together with the ELA OMS D&D Director.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Proven track record in leadership role, preferably with operations experience
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and the ability to communicate with and influence internal and external senior stakeholders.
  • Board Member exposure in Joint Venture organisations would be beneficial.

Location and Travel:

 

The Operations Director role is based at our Robinson House office, Westlake’s Science Park.  However, frequent travel to Springfields will be required.
