Managing Director for InCon

The role requires business and technical experience with an emphasis on communication, leadership, change management and project management to meet or exceed growth, return on investment and profitability for Inspection Consultants Ltd (Business Unit) and Westinghouse (WEC).
 

Responsibilities include implementing and optimizing Business Unit processes, systems, and tools; overseeing contract terms and conditions that assure that the Business Unit and WEC are protected commercially and financially from legal risks; ensuring all regulatory and compliance measures are met within regional guidelines; and providing leadership in the strategic direction and oversight of the Business Unit’s activities.
The role requires a disciplined approach to establishing best practices and process standardization while maximizing operational effectiveness and efficiencies. The role involves building trusted advisory relationships with senior customer executives to enable early identification of customer needs and insight into competitor activities. In addition, the role provides critical insight into the product/service and marketing effectiveness by summarizing customer, competitor and market information as an input to the delivery team.

 

Finally, development of the organization is a major responsibility, providing training, direction and coaching to improve performance and expanding competencies.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Manage the business unit facility and be the point of contact for day to day management issues that need resolution (e.g. liaising with HR on specific issues, ensuring the health and safety of all employees performing work etc.).
  • Manage Business Unit resources, including facilities, equipment, finances and personnel to achieve the business objectives
  • Provide leadership and effectively communicate and implement WEC policy and procedures (when applicable), training, regulatory and customer compliance, document management and systems maintenance, and information technology processes.
  • Approve proposals and contracts with customers, suppliers and other organizations in accordance with WEC guidelines
  • Work with the applicable Business Unit sales and delivery teams, and customers, from the capture phase through to final invoice, to deliver sales and direct gross margin greater than or equal to planned objectives. In particular, taking the lead to capture and deliver major projects and scopes of work.
  • Participate in the development and execution of WEC mid and long-term business plans and implement new business strategies, ensuring operations are managed within the established guidelines and achieve cost savings (as applicable)
  • Establish and implement best practice and process standardization for NDE and Weld and Welder Certification
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that contract terms and conditions are negotiated to protect the business commercially and financially from risks that would result in increased Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and/or legal risk. Assure alignment as defined in agreed upon Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
  • Ensure that products and services are delivered to customers according to the customers and WEC expectations following our standard processes
  • Develop and foster senior and executive customer relationships and be a trusted and valued business advisor to the customer. Be viewed by the customer as the single point of accountability for all emergent issues.
  • Gather and disseminate customer information regarding strategic intent and planned expenditures, along with competitor intelligence, to provide market and product intelligence to Growth Leaders and Product Managers.
  • Set realistic strategic goals and objectives for the Business Unit, in agreement with direct Manager, and devise KPIs to monitor, control and ensure they are achieved
  • Take responsibility for the successful delivery of activities of major significance to the organization
  • Utilize project management skills to direct and administer key implementation activities.
  • Identify high performing employees, provide coaching and training while developing plans to assist remainder of the team to improve performance.

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical or Business discipline or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration preferred Years of Experience (if applicable):
  • At least 15 years of experience in NDE with at least 10 years in progressively responsible management positions.
  • Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills and the conceptual and analytical ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage organizational change.
  • Must interface, influence, and persuade a variety of individuals throughout the organization concerning strategic initiatives
  • Regularly interfaces proactively with key department managers to facilitate compliance with company policies and procedures, and work to preserve integrity of the Business Unit operation.
  • Competency and knowledge of theory and practice of NDE practices, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various operational and staff groups, all levels of employees and customers.
  • Work is performed without appreciable direction. Determines organizational objectives and interprets company policies. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results.
  • Establish organizational policies in a major segment of the company; interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company-wide policies.
  • Accomplish results through lower management levels; establishes organizational structures and supervisory relationships, subject to line management approval.
  • Represents the organization as prime internal and external contact; conduct briefing and technical meetings for line management, customer and stakeholders; interacts with equivalent level managers concerning matters of significant interest to the Business Unit and WEC.
