About the role:
As a Heat Pipe Engineering intern, you will support a variety of research and development activities for the eVinci Microreactor heat pipe development program.
You will report to the Heat Pipe Engineering Manager and be located at our Etna location. This is a paid, full-time hybrid summer position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help with research and development programs throughout all phases of the design process
- Develop and implement design requirements, test plans, specifications, and procedures following quality assurance program requirements.
- Collaborate with materials teams in design of high temperature / corrosion compatible test articles and in analyzation of test articles using specialized mechanical / material analyses
- Coordinate with site environmental health and safety to design and implement safety protocols into benchtop prototyping
- Perform and complete experiments in compliance with quality assurance and safety requirements
- Technical writing, including development of technical reports
- Reduce and analyze large datasets using Matlab, Diadem, or Mathcad
- Design test articles and prototypes using standard engineering practices and finite element analysis
- Design and selection of equipment and instrumentation for production and testing equipment
- Prepare detailed sketches, 3D models, and drawings using Auto Cad, Inventor, and SolidWorks
- Hands-on fabrication and assembly of test fixtures and production equipment
- Hands-on installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment controls
- Integrate design with modeling and analysis efforts
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, general, robotics, material, or chemical engineering
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete sophomore year of college
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.50 per hour.
