Nuclear Reactor Engineer (early career)

About the role:

As a Nuclear Reactor Operator, you will support reactor core physics testing and reactor engineering services. You will also support plant operations by providing solutions that validate core design performance and improve nuclear systems and fuel handling. Additionally, you will troubleshoot instrumentation, implement advanced technologies, and develop emergency operating procedures used across the operating nuclear fleet.

You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and work a mobile/hybrid role based in Cranberry, PA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mix of office work and hands-on, field work.
• Work with customers to support the customer's reactor operation team.
• Maintain and testing equipment, shipping equipment to customer sites, transport, setup and tear down of test equipment at customer sites, test administration and reporting.
• We support our power plant customers by performing critical activities in the control room. Performing well under pressure is a must. The job requires strong communication skills for customer interface. Additionally, physical ability to handle test equipment is necessary.
• We will ask you to travel to customer sites for hands-on work assignments. Additionally, it involves occasional travel, 2 to 4 times a year, to industry meetings or to customer sites for short field work assignments. These assignments typically last 5 to 15 days per trip.
• Must maintain their fitness for duty and participate in Westinghouse's behavioral observation program.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering

0+ years experience

Beneficial:

• Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering
• Reactor Operator License for University or Research Reactor (or previously held)
• Experience with use of nuclear detection equipment
• Familiarity with reactor physics and reactor dynamics
• Experience with LabVIEW software.
• Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Laboratory equipment operation and management
• Operation or design of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems
• Neutron detection (familiarity with rhodium or vanadium in-core Instrumentation)
• Experience writing engineering or operating procedures

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $58,400 to $85,000 per year.
