About the role:

As a Chem Lab Team Manager you will ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standards and related policies, and enforce them within this supervised activity.

You will report to the Manager of QC Operations and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and communicate department resources to achieve use of employees, equipment, and material consistent with safety, regulatory, quality, productivity and financial requirements through the use of Westinghouse Manufacturing Systems & Tools.

  • Foster a safety and quality conscious environment through the use and reinforcement of Human Performance.

  • Assure personnel compliance to safety, regulatory, and quality requirements. Monitor personnel and area to observe unfavorable trends through use of Visual Management and observations. Communicate discrepancies and solicit support.

  • Determine task performance/skill requirements. Evaluate employee skill levels through use of the training skills matrixes, focus training plans on deficiencies, and strengthen employee development.

  • Create area metrics concerning activities of assigned department and display metrics on Visual Management Center.

  • Through standardized huddle meetings, area learning clocks and visual management communicate and strengthen goals and the performance of the area including any changes to policies.

  • Maintain established employee relations policies and safety/health regulations.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend pay increases, promotions, transfers, and other personnel actions. Interview job candidates and make hiring decisions to fill any open positions.

  • Retain expertise to evaluate personnel and monitor area performance. Apply knowledge to production or equipment issues to initiate proper corrective action.

  • Lead special project assignments and perform designated roles (i.e. Incident Commander, Mentor).

  • Implement process/continuous improvements in assigned department

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent

  • Five or more years in a manufacturing/production environment.

  • 3+ years as a manager or supervisor in a manufacturing and a production facility.

  • Successful completion of the Leadership development program by location.

  • Experience with employee relations policies, industrial standards, quality requirements and environmental/safety regulations.

  • Solid knowledge of area technical requirements. b. Identify specialized education and experience requirements.
