About the role:

As an Engineer Technician 2 you will learn to perform setup and monitoring of multiple pieces of inspection equipment. You will also perform troubleshooting of the inspection equipment when it is determined that the equipment is performing below expectations or when deleterious trends are observed.

This is an entry-level position in Product Assurance.

You will report to the Manager of Quality Engineering and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support the role 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn to and create FRD files representing the rod types to be run through the gamma scanner. Update FRDS files to support Dimensional and Visual inspection of fuel rods

  • Learn to and review 044 or 062 defects from the gamma scanners (active and passive) to determine disposition of fuel rods that are run multiple times on the gamma scanners.

  • Become qualified to perform setup of ultrasonic inspection equipment to ensure inspections of different rod configurations.

  • Learn to and perform monitoring of control charts for UT inspection systems and perform observations of material handling equipment to determine if corrective actions are needed.

  • Learn to and perform water filter changes on the UT units weekly. Perform OM activities on the film developer unit.

    Perform responsibilities for Quality engineering personnel including:

    • EPN investigation

    • Place holds on affected product

    • Review and disposition dimensional and visual engineering review defects

    • Maintain x-ray developers

    • Support development and qualification of new tooling and processes

       

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Technical school not required but beneficial

  • 0 or more years of experience

  • Manufacturing experience not required but beneficial

  • ASNT NDT certification not required, but beneficial

  • Manual inspection processes

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Identify process upsets
