About the role:

As a Product Test Technician, you will perform or support a variety of non-repetitive, technical assignments related to testing (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and vibrational) and development of new and improved fuel assemblies and components.

You will report to the Manager - Product Enginering lab. This is an onsite position, located in Colombia, SC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate test components and fixtures to support testing.
  • Install and setup equipment including instrumentation necessary to perform these tests and, while conducting the tests, monitor instrumentation and record data associated with tests.
  • Review test prospectuses to determine equipment and hardware necessary to perform specific tests (electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and vibrational).
  • Provide general assistance to technicians and engineers in the design of custom test systems and fixtures. (test design)
  • Assemble components, fixtures or equipment for performing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or vibrational testing. (test parts and fixtures)
  • Perform basic machining activities using equipment in the lab. (test parts and fixtures)
  • Install and monitor mechanical / electronic equipment and instrumentation, such as Instron universal test machines, vibration testing system, multi-channel signal processors and computer-based data collection systems.
  • Perform non-standard electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and vibrational testing on fuel assemblies and components. Perform similar testing activities offsite. (test performance)
  • Compile test data (using computer systems). (data collection)
  • Perform general modification of computer and data acquisition systems for data analysis. (test data acquisition)
  • Prepare purchase requisitions at direction of higher classification personnel. (lab support)
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and make basic repairs. (lab support)
  • Follow procedures for maintenance of collected test data. Records may consist of chart recording, calibration reports, component characteristics (before and after test), data collection system printouts, digital test tapes and photographs.
  • Follow applicable accountability, traceability, criticality safety, security and hygiene procedures. (lab support)

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • 2 + years relevant technical training
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent
