Ensures the long-term success of business by equipping operations with processes, systems, and behaviors to enable efficient and effective manufacturing of nuclear fuel. Leads efforts to deliver key improvement opportunities and develops systems to sustain continuous improvement process.

Your Day to Day:

  • Well-focused on understanding and preserving the product quality basis and how that translates into process control and execution
  • Ensures a strong focus, understanding and urgent correction of quality impacting issues and trends
  • Ensures changes and improvements that impact processes are effectively reviewed to ensure no adverse impact to product quality. Given the significance of the impact of quality defects in our product, is a visible champion in ensuring workers understand how their work activities impact product quality
  • Plans, develops and implements long-term strategic planning of the overall manufacturing goals, personnel development, and business objectives focused on adding value to the business
  • Develops effective working relationships with peers with the full focus on delivering on behaviors and results aligned to the best interests of the overall facility; ability to develop, translate and execute department goals and performance objectives aligned to high level facility, nuclear fuels and company-wide performance objectives
  • Ensure effectiveness of operational systems; analyzing financial, production, quality control, and other operational data to ensure operational objective are achieved. This includes all customer requirements, optimization of in-process inventories, and staffing requirements considering budgetary limitations, time constraints, and customer impact
  • Drives an organizational culture of continuous improvement through the use of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Act as a change agent to lead a sustainable continuous improvement organization
  • Effectively uses policy deployment to ensure alignment of operational unit goals and activities with organizational goals
  • Drives organizational performance by through effective use of metrics along with monitoring budgets and other key data needed to adjust strategies and tactics to achieve objectives
  • Creates a performance based organizational culture that values employee engagement and inclusion

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field,  engineering or operations management preferred, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of five years manufacturing operations, chemical manufacturing preferred
  • Ten or more years in a discipline closely related to plant operations
  • Five to ten years of previous management experience required (Resources & Budgets)
  • Proven track record in leading routine and transformative continuous improvement projects that add value to the business
  • Extensive experience and strong understanding of manufacturing principles (preferred)
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of regulatory impacts and risks and ensures daily and long term operations meet all regulatory commitments and needs,
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced manufacturing principles including lean manufacturing and six sigma;
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data;
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

  • Strong communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
  • Solid judgment and decision making based on data analysis and interpretation;
  • In-depth leadership skills focused on motivating, developing, and directing others

Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage customers and is keenly aware of customer specific needs and challenges;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large budget and deliver on-going financial improvements without sacrificing safety and quality
  • Ability to effectively delegation down and laterally throughout the organization
  • Proven track record of developing leaders and employees and all levels of the organization.
