We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Material Control and Accounting (MC&A) Intern to join our MC&A team in the Environment Health and Safety organization at the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF). The intern will support MC&A day-to-day activities and assigned projects. You will be working closely with experienced MC&A professionals, chemical laboratory personnel, process engineers, and CFFF plant operations stakeholders to develop and maintain compliance with special nuclear material MC&A regulatory requirements at our Hopkins, SC nuclear fuel manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Work closely with material control and accounting (MC&A) staff members
  • Review/update regulatory documents for accuracy and compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission MC&A regulations (10 CFR 74)
  • Assist MC&A staff with internal audits and information collection
  • Provide item control and measurement control support to MC&A personnel
  • Support MC&A function in preparation and information gathering for an independent audit of the MC&A program
  • Assist with analysis and trending of MC&A data
  • Support environmental tasks related to sustainability, permitting, reporting and data management

 

Who you are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or Statistics. Other science and engineering candidates will be considered.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 strongly preferred.
  • Completion of Sophomore year of college by May 2025
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Have strong mathematical and statistical skills
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and SQL databases.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques such as ordinary least squares regression and ANOVA.
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis, and data modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
