About the role:
As a Nuclear Transport Specialist, you will support the Manager of U.S. Transport Operations at the Columbia site. You will help establish transportation policies and procedures. Additionally, you will provide direction to transport and non-transport personnel to effectively execute the functions and activities of the department. Plan, organize and control shipments of radioactive and non-radioactive, nuclear related products to and from several licensed consignees, including customer reactor sites and other Westinghouse locations.
You will report to the US Transport & Logistics Senior Manager and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and implement the physical movement of shipments and prepare all legally required documentation
- Implement transportation plans through analysis of conditions for delivery, regulatory requirements, alternative transportation options, and cost
- Manage appropriate metrics for U.S. Transport Operations. Provide periodic reporting of shipments and deliveries, project milestones, and supplier performance
- Communicate with Customers, Suppliers, Trade Compliance, Plant personnel and other individuals, both internal and external
- Perform responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, local and site-specific regulations and agreements. Support audit preparation and compliance
- Write and revise procedures to ensure consistency with all safety, regulatory compliance and site work requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 5 years in a regulated, global transportation and logistics function - preferred 2+ years of experience shipping / transporting hazardous materials
- Experience of transportation principles and understanding of U.S. Import/Export regulations.
- Subject matter expertise in Class 7 – Radioactive Materials Transportation preferred
- Preferred - CHMP – Certified Hazardous Materials Professional
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $64,800 to $81,000 per year.
