About the role:
As a Program Coordinator you will oversee the strategic planning and management of radioactive material packaging assets, ensuring their availability, maintenance, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role includes planning and executing shipments of both radioactive and non-radioactive nuclear-related products to and from licensed consignees, including customer reactor sites and other Westinghouse locations.
You will report to the Senior Manager of US Transport and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain documentation for fissile material packaging following NRC, DOT, and international regulations.
- Collaborate with Nuclear Fuel Transport Licensing, Compliance, and Package Technology team to ensure adherence to safety and licensing requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory of licensed packaging assets, including certifications, inspection schedules, and compliance records.
- Implement tracking systems to monitor asset usage, location, and condition.
- Coordinate asset scheduling to support fuel transportation and storage needs.
- Oversee maintenance, refurbishment, and certification of packaging assets to meet safety and performance standards.
- Manage maintenance schedules for fissile material packaging.
- Manage vendor relationships for inspection, repair, and refurbishment services.
- Provide hands-on support for packaging issues and instructions for refurbishment operators
- Ensure packaging operations comply with company safety policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in audits and risk assessments related to nuclear material handling and packaging.
- Provide guidance to plant personnel on safe use, storage, and transport of licensed packaging.
- Lead execution of nuclear fuel shipment schedules for the Columbia facility.
- Analyze delivery conditions, evaluate transportation options, and assess cost-benefit outcomes.
- Train and oversee junior personnel to ensure compliance with Westinghouse policies and transportation regulations, and to optimize supplier performance.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and contract management teams to ensure packaging availability aligns with fuel delivery timelines.
- Help develop and implement packaging procedures, standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior logistics role within the nuclear or hazardous materials industry.
- Mechanical skills, including assembly, repair, and safe use of hand and power tools
- Experience with NRC, DOT, IAEA, and other relevant regulations.
- Experience with asset management within a logistics environment.
- Experience in the nuclear fuel cycle, fuel fabrication, or other regulated industries.
- Knowledge of fissile materials and containment principles.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for asset tracking and scheduling.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $76,400 to $95,500 per year.
