About the role:
As a Senior Manager, US Transport you will manage all aspects of inbound and outbound nuclear freight and all inbound and outbound standard freight. Managing nuclear freight is a technical and specialized field. This responsibility includes handling inbound Uranium (UF-6) freight and managing Outbound Nuclear Fuel and Component Loading and Transport. Managing standard freight is straighter forward but the critical nature of our product offering requires world-class service. The scope of standard freight for WEC covers all supplier inbound shipments, intercompany component shipments, and expedited freight service.
You will report to the NF Transport Director and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain transport routes with back-ups to support 100% customer delivery that meets regulatory requirements. Maintain close customer relationships to ensure clear understanding of needs and preferences for Delivery, Communication, Documentation
- Deploy a comprehensive RACI and Organization design. This design defines the scope of work managed by SCM, which has a long-term contract focus. It also defines the scope of work managed by the Transport and Logistics Team, which focuses on tactical execution, Operational Excellence, and cost-out. Additionally, the design defines the scope of work managed by our sites, which includes scheduling and receiving, and our vendors, which includes scheduling and shipping. Use this design to guide on-time delivery, logistics cost out, and cost-out/efficiency in the WEC team.
- Work with SIOP and Production Scheduling to manage all WEC intercompany freight, following the same processes developed for external vendors and with the same process and cost improvement outcome (above).
- Manage all domestic and international expedited freight. Maintain a disciplined approval process and continuous improvement mechanism to improve service and limit frequency / cost of this high-cost transportation mode.
- Create a process framework and logistics database.
- Develop a Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Management Operating Review (MOR) structure. These tools will help set and achieve annual goals, including Freight % of sales, expedited freight % of freight, Logistics cost-out, OTIF.
- Maintain training and certifications of a technical team to ensure compliance, customer-expected performance, and continuous improvement of out Transport and Logistics services
- Deploy a Management Operating Review (MOR) structure to maintain the effectiveness of a large team, driving world-class performance and process and cost improvement.
- Demonstrate to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, Finance or a related field required
- 10+ years of business experience related to manufacturing, supply chain, and operations
- 5+ years management experience required
- 5+ years of Transport/Logistics experience required
- 2+ years of License/Compliance experience
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $126,000 to $157,500 per year.
