Under general supervision of Manager, Plant Operations, coordinates, leads and interfaces with all CFFF operations areas and support groups to ensure that safety, quality, and delivery schedule requirements are met.

 

Your day to day:

  • Work with operations departments to plan, organize, communicate and monitor resources to achieve effective utilization of employees, equipment and material consistent with safety, regulatory, quality, productivity and financial requirements through the use of Westinghouse Manufacturing Systems & Tools. Determines shift priorities and coordinates operations and activities within or between departments
  • Foster a safety and quality-conscious environment through the use and reinforcement of Human Performance
  • Assure compliance to safety, regulatory and quality requirements. Monitor area metrics to observe unfavorable trends through utilization of Visual Management and observations. Communicate discrepancies and solicit support as needed
  • Interact with support department managers (Product Assurance, Maintenance, etc.) to define immediate and near-term requirements for support activities. Reviews the plant master schedules on a daily basis and provides input to Planning and Work Management in order to meet objectives
  • Manage manufacturing schedules and production orders to meet logistical schedules, optimize inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations, time constraints and customer impact
  • Serve as the single point of contact for off shift hours when responding to EH&S, Quality, or Production events. Serves as the Emergency Director when emergency brigade response is activated, until the arrival of staff management
  • Evaluate production processes and procedures for opportunities of continuous improvement. Responsible for the organization’s manufacturing initiatives and practices
  • Coordinates activities of workers engaged in all phases of operations. Prepares operation schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities in accordance with Planning and Work Management schedules to meet shift-by-shift requirements
  • Remain knowledgeable of EHS policies and procedures to inform personnel of upcoming changes, such as….  Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed and meeting or exceeding the standards and related policies, and enforce them within this supervised activity
  • In coordination with Area Managers, manage the area strategy deployment development, implementation and monitoring to drive continuous improvements. Collaborate with all areas to meet the organizational vision
  • Data collection, metric creation and department and site status reporting. Uses data to lead daily, nightly and weekend Station Meetings

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of experience and education in a technical discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing management experience

Skills and Competencies:

  •  Possesses and applies knowledge of routine safety, regulatory, quality, productivity and financial issues, acquired through cumulative experience, to resolve problems.
  • Applies planning/scheduling tools and computer skills to communicate plans and report performance. Must be able to learn Planning scheduling software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Original thinking required for problem solving and flexibility in decision making.
  • Problem resolution and error prevention through use of Human Performance tools such as Pre-job brief, peer check, self-check, etc.
  • Solicit input and recommendations from employees, support groups, area management and staff management.
  • Prioritization of multiple and sometimes conflicting needs of all operational areas.
