Sr. Electrical Maintenance Planner

Job Description 

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Maintenance Planner to work at our Columbia Fuels Fabrication Facility in Columbia, SC.  As a Planner, you are responsible for planning and preparing work instructions that provide direction to craft/vendor resources for the implementation of modifications, repairs, or minor work scopes.  You will support the department through technical and administrative assignments and ensuring that the department implements and complies with applicable Administrative and Regulatory requirements and procedures.  

 Job Details/Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling and prioritizing the maintenance workload in assigned areas. Must assure the availability of all resources including originating requests for equipment, manpower, parts and tooling to avoid erratic work schedules including scheduling work orders for department shutdowns and extensive rebuilding/overhauling of equipment and facilities.
  • Responsible for implementing the deficiency tagging and repair program for his/her assigned areas including prioritization of repairs, readiness of the repair, and scheduling of repair.
  • Conduct field walk downs to provide input for refining and improving work package quality.
  • Interface and collaborate with vendor/craft supervisor, work management, operations, maintenance, and engineering to identify and resolve work package issues.
  • Coordinates and gathers information from stores, purchasing and cost accounting to provide summaries of labor, parts, and other incurred maintenance costs. Monitor these costs and make recommendations to the appropriate budget manager on how these maintenance costs can be effectively minimized.
  • Support of the Work Management T-week process.
  • Provide extensive knowledge in the functionality and operation of the site Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Provide technical leadership in planning and scheduling functions.
  • Review engineering changes and participate in work breakdown structure discussions to facilitate and enhance work package development, maintain compliance with codes, standards, vendor recommendation and maintenance direction.
  • Perform duties that may involve work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the NRC.
  • Plan work tasks using site procedures, standards, and relevant codes.
  • Support and participate in outage schedule rotation.
  • Plan to meet outage milestone commitments.
  • Use computer programs such as but not limited to Microsoft Office, L2L, Enovia, and PowerBI.

 

Job Requirements

 The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, such as related technical training or equipment experience in manufacturing or nuclear power plant maintenance. Bachelor’s degree in physical science or engineering discipline preferred.
  • 7 years power plant experience in maintenance or operations with 5 of the 7 years in a nuclear facility setting.
  • Understanding of electrical codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
  • Be able to pass criminal background, drug/alcohol screen (including medical and recreational marijuana as well as CBD oil), and employment testing.

 

Skills/Competencies

  • Must have a strong background electrical maintenance craft and a working knowledge in at least one other craft.
  • Developing plans that are flexible enough to cover unexpected contingencies. Identify maintenance manpower for all crafts and contractor labor. Emergency repairs of equipment must be expedited on short notice using available personnel, vendors and contractors.
  • Analyze historical data and recommend changes to increase the effectiveness of maintenance program on individual equipment. Gaining consensus of staff managers, department managers, and or department supervisors concerning matters that involve disrupting production for essential maintenance. Be able to respond to the lack of readily available tools and materials.
  • Incumbent must use persuasive techniques in dealing with staff managers, department managers and department supervisors to achieve consensus in gaining necessary down-time of operational equipment - critical to production output - to ensure longevity of the equipment and minimize the life cycle costs of production assets by completing necessary repairs or predictive/preventive maintenance. Incumbent must be able to communicate various needs and requirement to management, contractors, and vendors in both written and verbal form. Incumbent must be able to persuade Maintenance Planners to share knowledge and workload to optimize planning function.
