About the role:

As a Toolmaker Apprentice you will work with A and B Toolmakers to make, modify and repair tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges of simple design and construction where tolerances are close but not extreme. Participate in required on-the-job-training, on-site training courses and courses held at the approved technical school.

You will report to the Tool Room Team Manager and be located at Columbia, SC. You will be 100% onsite

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair /Replace/Set up Tooling used at Westinghouse for manufacturing product.

  • Clean or replace used tooling promptly so that Manufacturing of

  • Product runs smoothly.

  • Change out tooling for different fuels/contracts when requested by other

  • Areas

  • Work with Engineers and A and B Toolmakers to Troubleshoot problems with Tooling.

  • Correct the problem and get production back running

  • Make, modify and repair tools, die, and gauges of simple design

  • Use CNC or manual Machinery(Mills ,Lathes , grinders, and EDM) to manufacture parts of very simple design and construction where tolerances are close but not extreme. This is to be done with the guidance of A and B Toolmakers.

  • Manufacture simple parts per drawing.

  • Work to product drawings, tool drawings and sketches to plan and make a variety of tools and gauges of fairly simple design and construction.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, Successful completion of required basic math, mechanical aptitude, reading comprehension and writing skills assessments.

  • Some technical school.

  • 2 years Machine Tool.

  • Must Enrolled in Machine tool Technology program.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly pay range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $33.25 to $43.00 per hour.
