The Principal Scheduler is to provide development and implementation direction, integration, guidance and oversight to all Work Management Schedules at Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility. The Principal Lead Scheduler has the role of development and oversight of CFFF Long Range Schedule, Base Line Schedule, Work Week Schedules and Outage Schedules. Institutionalize program elements include establishment/maintenance of schedule tool codes and settings, processes, procedures and practices that support schedule integration, resulting in improved risk identification/mitigation and more efficient use of facility resources. Provide guidance, integration, oversight and critical issue resolution for scheduling of all preventive and corrective maintenance activities as well as field implementation activities for projects. The Principal Lead Scheduler will provide strategic, integrative, tactical, communicative and organizational adeptness to this position.

Your Day to Day:

  • Primary Scheduling Administrator Role. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all assigned programmatic requirement development and implementation activities, by leading, directing, coordinating, facilitating, coaching and mentoring assigned schedulers. Report program and project summary status, issues and performance to management and Work Week Managers. Similarly, provide ultimate guidance, integration and oversight for the on-going scheduling of operations, maintenance and projects implementation activities
  • Integrated Scheduling Communications. Develop and implement requirements for schedule communications that: utilize effective scheduling technologies, processes, procedures and practices. This position fulfills the role of Site Liaison for Integrated Scheduling. Provide Schedule Performance Indicators to communicate to management how CFFF is performing in the Work Management Program
  • Integrated Schedule Development. Facilitate and guide Schedulers and others to conduct external teaming with engineering regarding project planning and status reviews.  Resolve problems and expedite chronic or critical deliverables, interfacing as necessary with functional departments (e.g.; operations, maintenance, engineering). Establish requirements to coordinate summarize and report all schedule information relative to the status and performance of both projects and maintenance activities. Develop and implement requirements for standardizing, integrating and enhancing scheduling processes, procedures, practices, work products and scheduling deliverables. Ensures schedule baselines are captured and available for actual performance comparison and reporting. Develop and implement requirements for integrated schedule parameters to measure resource utilization, scope stability and schedule adherence.      
  • Integrated Schedule Processes, Procedures, Practices. Provide direction, guidance and interpretation as to how Work Management processes should be designed and implemented and routinely monitor for performance. Make recommendations for operational and organizational structure adjustments designed to enhance currently implemented program requirements. Provide guidance, oversight, integration, coaching to Schedulers. Interface with other department or project representatives to enhance Work Management processes and support to the CFFF organization. 
  • Risk Management. Support Work Week Managers to ensure integrated assessment for scheduled risks. Provide direction, guidance, oversight, integration and coaching to schedulers and Work Week Managers regarding identification, assessing, analyzing schedule risk impact and risk handling actions. Monitors and assesses schedules in Work Management to assure immediate risk corrective actions are taken, while taking corrective action when negative or chronic trends are exposed
  • Integrated Scheduling Process Improvement. Improve productivity, cost and efficiency of Work Management Scheduling processes. Lead the development of benchmarking, schedule lessons learned, self-assessments, audits, standards, etc. from scope identification to schedule delivery within the business segment. Develop strategic schedule models, practices and recommend implementation plans. Identify best practices and needed process improvements and resultant improvement impacts in terms of savings
  • Integrated Scheduling Area Training. Provide guidance and direction for the on-going development of training systems, processes, practices, procedural training and proficiency-maintaining programs where needed.  Establish training requirements for use of software planning and analysis tools.
  • Business Model Integration.  Command an integrative working understanding of production planning, maintenance programs and project development and implementation processes at CFFF, such that competing demands for resources are identified and understood.
  • Establishing Cost Structure. Responsible for establishing P6 scheduling on site. That will include cost structure of all aspects of the schedules and creating variance reports to compare estimated vs. actual spend/costs for both capital projects, expense projects and maintenance activities. This will help establish financial standards for down time (scheduled and unscheduled) and overall schedule adherence and impact to area financial forecast and budgets for CFFF.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of directly transferable experience in scheduling positions in advanced planning/scheduling techniques, applicable software applications and strategy development within engineering, construction or operational environments.
  • Primavera P6 Professional
  • Extensive knowledge of Primavera capability, functions, control settings and scheduling techniques/reporting. Working knowledge of: Work Management processes and schedule development and implementation techniques.

Skills and competencies:

The individual in this position must work independently with minimal direction and supervision to assess very complex, integrated project schedules and implementation aspects related to the scheduling function. Internal to the organization, the individual must evaluate the strategic needs of the business relative to resource planning and develop plans to address those needs. Recommend and resolve logic conflicts based on relationships to other work tasks and technical requirements. Must be able to act quickly to allow for inclusion of new work requirements. A high degree of risk recognition, creativity, resourcefulness, ingenuity and persuasiveness is required to gain consensus on strategic direction related to planning/scheduling tools and operations. Must effectively act as the catalyst to resolve diverse concerns/objectives and competing priorities within the business segment. Objectively participate in critique/lessons learned programs. Must possess a facilitating, collaborative, teaming approach to solving problems. The individual should process and find solutions from the lowest appropriate level perspective, approach, and orientation to removing organizational and technical barriers/constraints to Work Management processes, projects, plans, etc.
