About the role:

As a Senior Engineer – Mechanical Systems and Equipment you will provide technical leadership for the design, development, analysis, and implementation of complex mechanical systems and equipment supporting legacy and advanced reactor technologies. You will lead system and equipment design efforts, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges while balancing cost, schedule, and quality objectives. This role requires a high level of technical expertise as well as the ability to lead and coordinate engineering teams executing complex work.

You will report to the Manager, Mechanical Systems & Equipment and be located at the Kitchener, Ontario Office. This position will be offered as a hybrid role. Employees working in hybrid roles are expected to work onsite at our Kitchener, Ontario Office 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, and analysis of complex mechanical systems and equipment, including interfaces with instrumentation and control, testing, licencing, and other reactor systems
  • Provide technical leadership by overseeing work execution, delegating tasks, mentoring engineers, and guiding teams through challenging technical situations
  • Perform system‑level design and analysis and support integration activities across legacy and advanced reactor programs
  • Identify, assess, and resolve technical issues, risks, and challenges affecting multiple partners using structured decision‑making tools
  • Work with technical and business leadership to communicate design and analysis progress, technical risks, and impacts to cost and schedule

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field
  • P.Eng. certification
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical systems and/or equipment design, development, and analysis, including fluid systems and interfaces with instrumentation and control
  • Experience in a technical leadership role involving design, modelling, analysis, and coordination of engineering teams
  • We consider knowledge of primary and secondary side power plant systems an asset.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasion

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $86,800 to $108,500 per year.
