About the role:
Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. You will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse's mission to provide clean energy solutions.
Specifically, as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical first of a kind tooling.
You will report to the Robotic Tooling Design Manager and be located at our Kitchener, Ontario office. This position will be offered as a hybrid role. Employees working in hybrid roles are expected to work onsite at our Kitchener, Ontario, office 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical first of a kind tooling

Assembly and testing of custom equipment through the design evolution from prototype to finished product

Help develop test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specifications

Help operate the final tooling system in the customer facilities

Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team

Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes & standards

Prepare clear and concise design reports and technical specifications.

Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems

Collaborate globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists

Support resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and/or components
Qualifications:
-
Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian institution

5+ years of relevant experience
-
Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes.

Experience in the design/building of custom equipment typically: robotics, electro-mechanical systems.

Experience working within 3D CAD systems

Experience with manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques.

Comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.

Experience working in a team environment.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $86,800 to $108,500 per year.
