Senior GL Accountant

This role is part of the Global Business Service group and reports to the Lead Accountant, Global Business Services. Senior Accountant - Global Business Services will support centralized business process owner general accounting functions performed by United States headquarter team. This role will be required to support efforts around process improvements through the centralization of month end closing procedures, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal/external audit functions for all Global locations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or review Blackline account reconciliations and journal entries for the following business process owner (BPO) functions: prepaids, payroll, accruals, leases, intercompany, cash, internal notes, and fixed assets.
  • Support closing administration functions by preparing journal entries, cost distributions and assuring timely completion to journal entry closing check lists.
  • Support legacy Non-SAP entity’s trial balance feeds into SAP including mapping of legacy accounts
  • Perform review of global daily cash clearing account reconciliations and clearing of aged open items in SAP.
  • Support automation initiatives related to robotic process automation and blackline account reconciliation transaction matching.
  • Ability to perform staff accountant role in back up capacity and provide cross training on any of defined BPO’s processes.
  • Responsible for performing and documenting internal controls outlined by the Global Financial Controls Organization.
  • Support the external audit activities ensuring the integrity and timeliness of deliverables to the auditor.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements in existing business practices and create standard operating procedures documentation for account reconciliations and journal entries performed globally.
  • Comply with standards contained in "Codes of Business Ethics & Conduct.

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7 Years of Experience
  • Unrelenting integrity and ethics
  • Understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
  • Prior experience in performing shared service BPO functions
  • Ability to train and guide team/processes with limited direction
  • Professional and drive to grow general accounting skills
  • Demonstrates an exceptional attention to detail; well organized
  • ERP experience: SAP & Blackline experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines and excel in a fast-paced business environment - responsive 
  • Ability to communicate verbal and written in English and multiple languages
  • Fluent in any of the following languages: English, German, French, Swedish, Japanese, Spanish
  • Effective team player who interacts well with others
  • Advance MS Excel user
  • Ability to work with detailed information while also understanding the “big picture”
