Lead Electrical Project Engineer

We are looking for a Lead Electrical Project Engineer to lead the end to end engineering, permitting, and delivery of power plant projects in Poland. You will combine versatile design leadership, owner's engineering oversight, and regulatory interface responsibilities. You will coordinate internal and external design teams, manage interfaces with authorities and grid operators, and ensure compliance with Polish codes, standards, and permitting requirements from concept through commissioning.
Responsibilities:
Project & Technical Leadership

Lead electrical engineering across the full project lifecycle (feasibility, concept, basic/detailed design, procurement support, construction, FAT/SAT, commissioning, handover).

Define electrical scope, basis of design, and key design criteria (system studies, protection philosophy, interlocking, metering, SCADA/telemetry, cybersecurity considerations).

Coordinate and review EPC/EPCM/Owner's Engineer deliverables (SLDs, load lists, cable schedules, grounding, arcflash, shortcircuit/coordination studies, relay settings, substation layouts, MV/LV specifications).

Drive integration of generation islands, balanceofplant, and grid connection assets (HV/MV substations, overhead/underground lines, GIS/AIS yards, transformers, reactive power compensation, protection & control).

Ensure grid code compliance and interface with TSO/DSO (e.g., PSE, DSOs), including compliance testing, modeling packages, and acceptance documentation.
Permitting & Compliance (Poland)

Plan and manage the permitting pathway and schedule; lead engineering inputs to applications and respond to RFIs/clarifications from authorities.

Coordinate with environmental, planning, and health & safety teams for integrated submissions (e.g., decision on environmental conditions (OOŚ/EIA), building permit, use permit where applicable).

Ensure compliance with grid connection conditions, IRiESP/IRiESD grid requirements, and UDT certification/approvals for applicable equipment.

Oversee conformity with applicable PNEN/PNIEC/PNHD standards (e.g., PNEN 619361, PNEN 50522, PNEN 60204, PNEN 61439, PNEN 62305), and EU directives (LVD, EMC, ATEX, Machinery) including CE marking dossiers where relevant.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management

Serve as primary technical contact with the client, authorities, grid operators, and certifying bodies; lead technical workshops and design reviews (60/90/IFC).

Manage electrical vendors/contractors: issue technical specifications, conduct technical bid evaluations, and oversee FATs (transformers, switchgear, relays, UPS, batteries, inverters, protection panels).

Coordinate with civil/structural, mechanical, I&C, and project controls to maintain scope alignment, cost, and schedule integrity.
Qualifications:

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

8–12+ years of experience in electrical engineering for power generation (thermal, CHP, CCGT/OCGT, WtE, biomass, utilityscale PV/BESS, or similar) including substation/HV/MV systems.

Proven experience leading design and permitting for power projects in Poland, including direct interactions with PSE/DSOs, local authorities, and UDT.

Strong knowledge of:

Polish legal and regulatory framework: Prawo budowlane, Prawo energetyczne, environmental and planning processes (OOŚ/EIA, building permits).

Grid codes/connection requirements (e.g., IRiESP/IRiESD equivalents), compliance testing, and protection coordination with TSO/DSO.

Polish/EU standards for electrical systems (PNEN / IEC/EN).

Proficiency with electrical system studies tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, SKM, CYME) and typical design/coordination software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360/Navisworks—asset).

Fluent Polish and professional English (written & spoken).

Chartered/Professional Engineer (Poland or EU) and/or SEP authorizations (E/D).

Prior Owner's Engineer/EPC background in Poland or CEE region.

Experience within the power industry, renewables + storage hybrids, synchronous condensers, or HV interconnections.

Familiarity with SCADA/telemetry, IEC 61850, and cybersecurity requirements for gridconnected assets.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be 17,000 to 21,225 PLN gross per month. In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
