The Database Administrator – Oracle is a key role for delivering Database Administration services for Oracle Environments at Westinghouse. The primary area of responsibility for this position will be a working database administrator and requires significant technical expertise in designing, building, tuning, installing, configuring, troubleshooting and management of databases for Oracle.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review, tests, recommends and installs upgrades of database software, including patches and major releases

  • Perform database backup and recovery, including periodic testing

  • Upgrade, configure and maintain server and database monitoring software to baseline system performance and identify (and remedy) potential issues. Resource monitoring and capacity planning.

  • Review, test, update and document detailed disaster recovery/High Availability plans for main production servers

  • Modify the database structure, from information given by application developers

  • Create documentation for all procedures and systems.

  • Enroll users and maintain system security, controlling and monitoring user access to the database

  • The primary responsibilities of this position occur during business hours, however there is some evening and weekend work related to projects, planned maintenance, and on-call support

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology or related field

  • 8+ years of experience in support of a complex Oracle database environment

  • Experience with Oracle standalone and clustered environments, Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Oracle Physical Standby (DR) database

  • Working knowledge of Linux, Redhat and Windows Operating Systems.

  • Experience executing all areas of database administration on current technologies

  • Proven troubleshooting skills for critical database, networking and system administration issues

  • Able to quickly and accurately interpret information, applying critical judgment to drive optimal outcomes.

  • Capable of independently organizing workload, navigating pressure with focus and resilience, and driving work to deadline‑aligned completion.

  • Ability to fully document technical design and related project or systems-level documentation

  • Experience in interface and collaborate with clients, peers, and management to troubleshoot issues, develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in the English language

  • Highly self‑directed, managing responsibilities with minimal oversight and translating general guidance from the Database Administrator Supervisor into actionable work.

  • Ability to work independently or in teams on assigned tasks with a high degree of technical judgment

  • Experience with SQL Server, MongoDB or other NoSQL platforms

 

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be 13,916 to 17,350 PLN gross per month. In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
