EHS Technician

About the role:

As an EHS Technician, you will support the Waltz Mill EHS organization that implements governance and provides daily environment, health, and safety support for the Waltz Mill site. You will focus on the implementation and maintenance of Waltz Mill Site EHS programs, tools and standards. This will include training and communication in a manner that ensures compliance to regulatory and internal requirements and needs.

You will report to the EHS Supervisor and will be based at our Waltz Mill site in Madison, PA. This is an anchor position that is required on site 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform safety and environmental inspections to ensure compliance with applicable Westinghouse and compliance standards.
• Teach safety and environmental training classes and proctor exams at the end of the training.
• Perform basic industrial hygiene monitoring, including sound level monitoring and air sampling, under guidance.
• Perform water sampling to support the site NPDES permit.
• Provide technical assistance and support for EHS issues within assigned areas, collaborating with internal and external resources to ensure support.
• Be a point of contact for safety and environmental issues and events on site.
• Promote compliance to internal processes and EHS procedures.
• Help implement EHS policies, procedures, training and risk assessments.
• Communicate new initiatives, standards, regulations, and events.
• Participate in incident investigations or reviews.
• Facilitate the development and sharing of EHS learning (including operating experience, lessons learned and best practices).
• Identify, analyze, and present data related to EHS to support measuring to drive improvement programs.
• Promotes EHS awareness through effective employee communications, participation, and programming.
• Work with site Facilities, Security and HR for issues that may affect the EHS programs.
• Participate in EHS compliance and EHS management system audits.

Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.

• 2+ years of relevant professional experience in a occupational safety or environmental capacity

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

• Knowledge of EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, PADEP)

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $60,951.82 to $94,152.88 per year.
