As an Environmental Engineer, you will provide environmental and management system support for the US based OMS facilities and teams. The primary goal is to implement and improve processes to ensure the safe and regulatory compliant execution of all OMS US Activities.

 

You will report to the Senior Director of Global EHS and be located at our Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. This position is eligible for a mobile working arrangement, with 2-3 days on site per week. The role will require occasional travel (up to 25%).

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, evaluate, implement, and direct environmental policies, programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, regulations and requirements.

  • Consult to help make sound environmental compliance decisions

  • Provide oversight to facility environmental management systems (ISO14001).

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce environmental risk in all facilities assigned

  • Assess and manage environmental risk.

  • Oversee waste, water and air compliance while maintaining in-depth knowledge of federal, state and local environmental protection regulations.

  • Prepare and maintain environmental permits including NPDES.

  • Guide communication between local, state, and federal regulatory organizations. 

  • Coordinate the activities of, and provide direction to, contractors and supplemental resources.

  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships to provide supplemental assistance for environmental matters.

  • Prepare briefs, reviews and consult with management on environmental concerns and goals.

  • Develop and administer appropriate training programs.

  • Analyze program costs and recommend improvements to reduce cost or improve efficiency.

  • Review audits and conduct inspections of facility operations to assure compliance with procedures, policies and regulations.

  • Help implement environmental and emergency response processes in the event of an environmental emergency incident. Provide support for incident management. 

  • Assist in environmental event investigations, respond to environmental concerns identified by employees and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence. )

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Bachelor Degree in environmental science or engineering, or equivalent

  • Working knowledge of applicable local, state, regional and federal environmental regulations to ensure site(s) compliance, maintain required records, support permit application preparation and implementation of permit requirements.  Help prepare environmental permit applications, develop procedures to implement regulatory and permit requirements and ensure all relevant documents and records are maintained.

  • Working experience of environmental programs in an industrial setting. 

  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or other similar management systems.
