About the role:

As a member of the Westinghouse AOMS Field Engineering Leadership Development Program (FELP), you will be rapidly be exposed to various product lines and service offerings within the AOMS portfolio, with growing responsibility. You will rotate through several AOMS business segments, to support our growing business while developing leadership skills and identifying future career interests.

 

We have 6 positions available for our next cohort in July 2026. All positions will be based out of our Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. This particular position is within the Rotating Equipment Services space and will report to the Manager of RES Shop Operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on the shop floor with the shop team and in the office with the Project Managers and Project Engineers to maximize exposure to the RES Shop Operations business.
  • Develop knowledge of the primary product lines supported by the RES Shop Operations team (Reactor Coolant Pumps, Reactor Coolant Pump Motors, Seals and Auxiliary Motors).
  • Provide support to the team executing and managing work scopes in the RES Pump and Motor Shop.
  • Interface with the RES Field Services Operational team to gain understanding of the total RES business.
  • Through a series of rotations within the business, learn and lead project work to strategically deliver value across multiple departments and global locations through planning, problem solving, communication, and teamwork while gaining hands-on experience and developing a broad understanding of different functional areas within the organization.
  • For each rotation and department, develop an understanding of the strategic direction of the business and respective departments, the business environment, and evaluate how business strategies align with the direction of the organization.
  • Provide basic engineering field service support both in the field and in our service center to install, test, start up, and maintain nuclear system equipment, components, and service tooling.
  • Perform field engineering work tasks within established field scope, budgetary requirements, and schedule requirements. Develop competencies related to the engineering functional area of focus for the rotation and gain exposure to the skillsets required for scopes of work as part of greater nuclear projects and deployment initiatives. This includes interfacing with customers, outage managers, business leaders, and project managers.
  • Support two to three planned outages at nuclear stations during the rotation period, which typically occur in the spring and fall seasons. Outage assignments may involve approximately 25 days of travel at domestic and international customer sites.
  • Conduct observations of active work and engage teammates in discussions of safety practices, foreign material protections, tooling and equipment usage, and work techniques.
  • Participate with qualified team members on component walkdowns and inspections, including understanding inspection techniques, inspection criteria, and component testing processes and acceptance criteria.
  • Create, review, and translate technical documentation, including procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings, and service planning documents, into clear shop floor requirements and incorporate customer requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Support engineering assessments of operational conditions or anomalies raised by utility customers. Participate in emergent engineering response and provide recommendations for remedy under supervision.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of specialty field tooling and processes, including testing, qualification, and training. Diagnose equipment issues, support project planning for outage work, and contribute to innovation initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field or greater. All engineering disciplines will be accepted.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% along with ability to relocate based on the specific job rotations.
  • Able to meet all requirements to gain unescorted access at domestic and international commercial nuclear plants.
  • Must have or obtain driver's license with REAL ID or passport.
  • Eager to learn, develop, and apply leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to $86,500 per year.
