Field Service Tech III

General Job Function:

Lead teams through field and headquarters reactor coolant pump (RCP), motor (RCPM), and seal maintenance tasks.  Set the example of being an exemplary crew member (a good follower) as well as a self-less leader while performing assignments in support of RCP field services, equipment turnaround coordination and activities, and intermittent shop support.  Service and support scopes will include but are not limited to RCPM preventative maintenance checks and services, cartridge and conventional seal maintenance, RCP motor and pump changeouts, and field services equipment inventory and refurbishment.  Demonstrate skills in the competency area of nuclear equipment services, and/or demonstrate knowledge of one of the following disciplines: Electrical Repair, Machinist, and Mechanic.  Perform nuclear service functions of a similar nature as directed.  Position may be subject to the requirements of both Westinghouse and customer "Security" and "Fitness for Duty" programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority):

  • Level III /Standard Training: Site specifics; Radiation safety; Hazards communication; Respiratory protection; and Lifting/Handling.  Complete Qualifications as applicable
  • Safety: Demonstrate, understand and practice Human Performance Tools, INPO Principals, Industrial Health & Safety, and ALARA principals, specific security requirements, and the importance of observing both Westinghouse and customer license requirements. Completion of Observation training in order to conduct efficient observations in the field and at the Waltz Mill Site.  Acquire, comprehend and apply Nuclear Culture Safety requirements.
  • Maintenance: Participate in training and apply pertinent principles of nuclear service maintenance scope consisting of, but not limited to RCP motor inspections, seal maintenance of various types, motor and pump replacement, etc.  Clean parts and areas;  Inventory and maintain hand tools; Organize supplies.
  • Field Operations: As current qualifications and site requirements allow, operate machine tools, electrical test equipment, overhead crane, jib crane, forklift trucks or other service equipment in the repair of nuclear components and equipment. Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, inspect, install, repair, and assemble basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment per approved field service procedures. Peer check, review, modify procedures as appropriate to continue operations.
  • Leading: Perform a lead role in activities, ensuring that they are completed with a high degree of quality and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines.  Maintain a high level of attention to detail, and instruct coworkers and leaders on improving the teams’ performance. Set the example in applying Human Performance Tools and Processes.
  • Demonstrate team-oriented leadership skills in supervising projects.Develop schedules with resource milestones and budget goals for team/project.  Develop, maintain and modify equipment maintenance and mobilization plans.Provide performance feedback to management for personnel assigned to projects.Maintain Resource Lead responsibilities where assigned, and perform duties of shift supervisor as required.
  • Exercise and promote team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers and other departments.  Demonstrate good customer sensitivity and customer service skills.  Maintain a focus on creative problem solving.

 

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies: 

  • Education: High School degree or equivalent in electrical/mechanical field. Associates Degree or continuing education courses.
  • Experience: 4-8 years working experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection skills.Specific Knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawing, or machining, including required mathematics. 10+ years prior nuclear experience

 

KSA (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)    

  • Electrical & Mechanical:  Connection of RCP motors for testing; Ability to multi-task; Complex equipment transfer and Peer check for procedural changes.
  • Leading:  Lead assembly/disassembly/and other tasks mentioned in “Maintenance” Section above; Task/job lead; Training of others and Heavy lifts.
