Manager - Engineering

Your Day-to-Day:

Provide leadership for growth, improved quality of earnings and transformation of engineering.  Specifically help transition for complete engineering with simplified/”Fix it Now”, unique patented solutions, and proactive market/customer support for continued operations.
•    Demonstrated leadership skills in customer interface, managing a diverse portfolio and energy operations
•    Broad knowledge of energy (nuclear & industrial) portfolio, outage, maintenance, & modification management.
•    Ability to help transition culture and business for simplified/off the shelf solutions in innovative ways.
•    Proactively seek, develop, and implement initiatives to cost effectively achieve goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
•    Develop goals and objectives for engineering function including major projects and direct implementation.
•    Develop customer contacts and establish strategies for obtaining new business to meet financial and strategic objectives.
•    Oversee engineering performance and direct continual review of department’s operations along with the development and introduction of alternative approaches, methods, or equipment to effectively accomplish objectives.
•    Manage and ensure compliance with contractual agreements. 
•    Obtain funding and work scope from internal and external sources; establish, monitor, and meet financial commitments.
•    Arrange and promote staff training and development; ensure needed levels of guidance and direction are provided; manage and document employee performance along with performing organizational talent assessments and implementing individual development plans to prepare future leaders and address gaps. 

 

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you’d bring the following to the team:

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, related technical discipline; Advanced degree preferred
•    Broad knowledge of energy engineering principles, techniques, applications.
•    Minimum 5 years of applicable experience required. 
•    10 to 15 years of strong/progressively more responsible engineering leadership experience preferred
•    Experience in metal fabrication and machining strongly preferred
•    Experience with business process improvement principles such as Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, 5S, Human Performance, etc. preferred.    
•    Demonstrated leadership skills in managing engineering projects and large, skilled diverse staff; knowledge in areas of product development, industry/academic/government research processes and regulatory/licensing environment.
•    Experience in industrial and nuclear markets preferred.
•    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to all levels of the organization.
•    Effective in the change management process.
