About the role:

 

As a Radiation Protection Specialist, you will support radiation protection for the Waltz Mill Service Center. You will work, with guidance from the Radiation Safety Officer, with the facility EHS professionals and Site Leadership teams.

 

You will report to the Radiation Safety Supervisor. This is a mobile role that is expected onsite 2-3 times per week.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with important partners at several levels in the businesses, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal radiation protection regulations.
  • Analyze trends and report common metrics for radiological safety (e.g. radiological dose, contamination events)
  • Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in the planning of the Waltz Mill radiation protection program. Oversee and maintain radiation protection procedures to ensure they are understood by all, reflecting the industry best practices, meet regulatory requirements while promoting a Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) and a Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Assist in the Radiation Protection Audit processes to assess compliance to regulatory programs, identify deficiencies, address gaps, and identify action plans to preclude external agency audit findings or investigations.
  • Assess program risks for radiological protection and safety.
  • Provide program leadership and technical expertise to operations in the area of radiological protection, occupational and public dose control and monitoring.
  • Support the Service Center when faced with radiological protection challenges including lack of radiological leadership.
  • Lead conformance with service center radiological safety practices, compliance with operating license and jurisdictional legal requirements

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Physics or Science
  • 1+ year of radiation protection and health physics experience

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $64,800.00 to $81,000 per year.
