Westinghouse Waltz Mill Dosimetry Technician Job Description
- Providing personnel dosimeters for dose monitoring of employees
- Coordinating quarterly receipt of dosimetry from an NVLAP accredited processor and distribution of personnel dosimetry throughout the Service Center
- Coordinating quarterly collection of personnel dosimetry from the Service Center and preparation for shipment to NVLAP accredited processor
- Receiving and maintaining digital dosimeter data and dose records in multiple databases in accordance with corporate policies and regulatory guidelines
- Providing employees a confidential report of annual occupational dose
- Coordinating with various Utility Sites to ensure support of outage work performed by Westinghouse by supplying and receiving crew lists and year to date exposures
- Processing optically stimulated luminescent dosimeters to obtain exposure estimates as needed
- Maintaining personnel training records for Radiation Worker Qualifications
- Performing audits to validate:

- Dosimeters are worn in restricted areas
- Dosimeters are being worn properly
- Dosimeters are being stored properly
- Periodically reviewing dose data to improve ALARA as practicable
- Performing monthly Personnel Access Data System (PADS) audits
- As needed, conduct the site’s internal monitoring program through whole body counting, and bioassay in accordance with local procedures and regulatory requirements
Preferred Experience
- Relevant experience in radiation measurement, radioisotope handling and radiation monitoring, including 1 year as a qualified Radiation Control Technician or Health Physics Technician. Alternatively, a minimum of two years as a qualified Radiation Control Technician or Health Physics Technician would be considered equivalent to the relevant experience requirement stated above.
- Familiarity with electronic database management and other Microsoft office programs
- Ability to frequently and effectively communicate with stakeholders both internal and external in support of nuclear power plant outage maintenance
- Experience with internal monitoring and bioassay programs
- Ability to apply advanced radiation safety, radiation measurement and radioisotope handling principles in general assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a radiation protection team
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Radiation Protection/Health Physics is preferred
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) and relevant combination of education and experience, in which advanced technical concepts and principles are acquired in the field of radiation protection/health physics
