Senior LabVIEW Test Automation Engineer
If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior LabVIEW Test Automation Engineer. The selected candidate will work within the Advanced Reactor Testing group supporting research and development activities for the eVinci microreactor test program. The candidate will work primarily at the Waltz Mill site, with occasional travel to the Cranberry HQ and Churchill locations.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Develop, integrate, test, install, troubleshoot, operate, and maintain LabVIEW applications used for automation and data-collection of test systems.
- Design and / or maintain supporting control and data acquisition system hardware (e.g. data acquisition cards, chassis, etc) for laboratory test applications.
- Work with other Engineers to define functional requirements and design, configure, commission, and qualify software solutions.
- Prepare relevant high-quality documentation (e.g. Control Logic Specifications).
- Share in the team's impact on all aspects of basic research testing and component, sub-assembly, and assembly level testing.
- In addition to software development, the selected candidate will participate in other elements of the test program, including requirements definition, design, build, commissioning, and verification of test systems.
- Provide mentorship to team members.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 4-6 years of professional experience
- Testing experience in a regulated environment (e.g. nuclear, Class III medical devices, defense, aerospace)
- Certified LabVIEW Developer or Certified LabVIEW Architect
- Ability to understand complex system designs
- Proficient in troubleshooting and commissioning control and data acquisition systems with test facility instrumentation and equipment
- Direct experience with analog and digital input/output communication with instrumentation/equipment as well as associated data acquisition hardware and devices (NI hardware, specifically)
- Hands on experience in wiring equipment/instrumentation with data acquisition and control system hardware, and troubleshooting communication issues.
- Experience with integrated electrical / data acquisition systems and associated wire selection, wire routing, and proper grounding practices to mitigate signal acquisition noise (interference)
- Ability to specify correct hardware based on system requirements
- Test automation design and measurement experience or knowledge
- Knowledge of test solution software development and system/component test
- Ability to create methodology to solve novel problems
- Ability to design systems based upon previously used system
- Strong organizational, planning skills, and attention to detail
- Highly motivated, self-starter.
- Good judgment and the ability to prioritize a number of diverse tasks.
- Orientation towards achieving Customer Success.
- Effective communication, teaming, and team building skills.
- Preferred:
- Prior experience and knowledge of laboratory chemical hygiene practices.
- Mechanical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with NI ComactDAQ chassis and modules for various digital and analog I/O functions.
- Experience and knowledge of data acquisition / instrumentation system error propagation analyses.
- Experience with other coding software (e.g., MATLAB)
- Experience with finite element analysis utilizing ANSYS workbench.
- Strong technical writing ability.
