Steam Generator Inspection Technician- Seasonal 

General function:

To provide steam generator field services at remote operating nuclear power plants and service center operations, utilizing high technology service equipment and in a manner reflecting Westinghouse's commitment to the highest level of quality. This position serves a support role for Steam Generator Secondary Side Inspection activities.

Your Day to Day:

  • The Steam Generator Visual Inspection Technician will support both the SG Visual Inspection and Foreign Material Retrieval Service as well as the SG Secondary Side Sludge Lance (Tubesheet Cleaning) Service. 
  • SG visual inspections will require the technician to remotely operate a robotic visual inspection system. 
  • The position will also include using manual visual inspection probes and cameras to locate and/or retrieve potential foreign material. 
  • Foreign object search and retrieval is a highly specialized service used in the nuclear industry on steam generators.  It is performed in any component in a nuclear power plant where foreign material may have the potential to cause damage to mechanical systems.
  • Set up and connect control boxes for audio video system and robotic inspection system.  Direct the running of cables and staging equipment.
  • Lead the installation and set-up of inspection equipment.
  • Perform inspections using manual video inspection probes for Top of Tubesheet, Upper Support Plate, and Steam Drum.
  • Operate the robotic inspection system and audio/visual system.
  • Retrieve foreign material from steam generator using remote tooling.
  • Troubleshoot the equipment and processes associated with secondary side inspections.
  • When required, perform FME monitoring in accordance with approved procedures.
  • This position requires extensive travel (50-70%), maintenance of "Unescorted Access" status, and working with hazardous materials.
  • Requirements

Educational requirements:

  • High school graduate or the recognized equivalent. 
  • Specific knowledge and training in electrical, electronic, or mechanical curriculum.
  • 0-2 years related experience; machining experience is a plus. 
  • Additional experience may be substituted for formal education. 
  • Years of related experience may be accelerated through demonstration of critical skills.
