Design Lead Mechanical Design, Mannheim, Germany

The Decommissioning groups are engineering groups providing various technical services and engineering for safe and reliable solutions for the nuclear backend. Typical work are the design and supply oftechnical link bet radwaste treatment facilities and components as well as engineering and execution of dismantling operations for shutdown nuclear reactors.

Your main duties include:

• Compile customer requirements and lead a technology team for the development of a technical concept
• Write/review a technical description that can convince the customer
• Produce calculation data for engineering hours and purchases
• Present the technical concept to the customer.
• Lead technical meetings with the customer to clarify conditions
• Lead designers for tool development
• Follow up on tool manufacturing
• Reconcile technical questions with site staff
• Take care of changes and additions

Your background

• University/Master degree of Science in Engineering e.g. mechanical engineering
• Experience of leading technical projects or having worked as a design lead
• Knowledge of 3D CAD tool (Including CREO / Inventor)
• English fluent, additional language will be a plus (German)
• Computer skills and knowledge in the Microsoft Office package.

In your role, you will lead the work of developing project-specific tools for segmentation and handling of the reactor components under water or in shielded cells. This opportunity offers many opportunities for creative problem solving because we are constantly improving our methods and tools.

The service involves some travel, especially in Europe but also in the rest of the world. You are rarely away for a long time and those trips are usually planned in advance.
