The Waste Management and Decommissioning groups are engineering groups providing various technical services and engineering for safe and reliable solutions for the nuclear backend. Typical work are the design and supply of radwaste treatment facilities and components, such as evaporators, dryers, cementation & grouting systems, and super-compactors as well as engineering and execution of dismantling operations for shutdown nuclear reactors.

 

The Senior Engineer takes the role of a Technical Leader for offers and projects, he/she contributes in further technology development and improvements. In that role he/she is the direct technical contact for project managers but also for the customers technical representative. The Senior Engineer also leads national and international project teams and structures their work. As an expert of his/her product portfolio, the Senior Engineer represents Westinghouse at customer technical negotiations and in front of regulators.

 

Tasks:

  • Creation of Licensing documents according to German Atomic Energy Act (AtG) and German Radiation Protection Act
  • Creation and review of design specifications
  • Design and layout of waste management and dismantling equipment
  • Supervision of the suppliers and manufacturing process
  • Participation in FAT and SAT at supplier customer sites
  • Leading the technical support and troubleshooting for on-site activities
  • Creation and revision of technical documentation
  • Discussions with customers and authorities
  • Participation and leadership in preparation of proposals (technical descriptions, scheduling, calculation of efforts)
  • Working in international teams
  • Travelling and onsite activities (worldwide)

 

Education / Experience:                               

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge about waste management systems or nuclear engineering and licensing processes
  • Cementation related experience would be a plus
  • Fluent in German and English 
  • Skilled in leadership for technical teams and communication with customers
  • MS Office products knowledge
  • CAD skills are a plus
  • Strong technical interest, predisposition for multi-tasking, flexibility, understanding of project priorities and teamwork abilities
  • Willingness to travel (internationally) if the situation allows it
  • Driving License would be appreciated
