Your Day to Day
Responsible for assessing and rapidly developing solutions for emergent plant equipment issues that require complex engineering input or support. Routinely interfaces with Field Operations, customers & fabrication to rapidly troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues along with documenting solutions to ensure configuration control & management is obtained. Applies in-depth experience and sound engineering judgment to quickly resolve complex problems in a dynamic environment. Works with limited guidance and may lead project teams or mentor less experienced engineers.
- Provide direct engineering support to operations covering all aspects of assigned process or area of responsibility
- SME for designing, and deploying tools, equipment, and components for customer solutions. May provide technical expertise related to the fabrication, testing, and use of specialized tooling.
- Uses structured processes to define and analyze complex problems and implement corrective actions.
- Leads structured analysis including design of experiments to identify and correct problems associated with fabrication processes.
- Ensures adherence to industry standards for equipment, tooling, and plant component performance along with assessing and determining root cause for failures. Analyzes drawings, specifications and other documents to ensure compliance with customer or industry requirements.
- Analyze operations and implement improvements to facilitate manufacture at lowest cost consistent with results desired. Using advanced engineering techniques, develop and qualify complex solutions enabling more cost efficient and / or reliable operations to meet current or projected business or customer requirements.
- Lead process development and design of experiment testing programs. Mentor less experiences engineers.
- Apply modern engineering science (such as lean manufacturing concepts, six-sigma methodology, and statistical process analysis) theories to continuously improve efficiency of fabrication processes.
- Routinely interact with craft and operations personnel to understand issues, establish relationships and help create employee engagement.
- Lead initiatives or mentor less experienced employee to improve fabrication process stability.
- Develop or assess technological and innovations in machinery and fabrication techniques to solve fabrication problems.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you’d bring the following to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of applicable fabrication experience required. 10 years preferred.
- Experience in metal fabrication and machining strongly preferred
- Experience support equipment maintenance preferred.
- Experience with business process improvement principles such as Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, 5S, Human Performance, etc. preferred.
- Experience with Autocad inventor for designing components is critical. Experience with Autocad Inventor or similar software is required
- Knowledge of fabrication and quality standards related to the metal machining (both CNC and manual) and fabrication.
- Basic knowledge of design engineering and Autocad Inventor or similar design software
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to all levels of the organization.
- Effective in the change management process.
