About the role:
As an Engineer II on our Rod Control and Position Indication System (RC&PIS) team, you will support the engineering, maintenance, lifecycle management, and spare parts programs for Westinghouse Rod Control (RC) and Rod Position Indication (RPI) Systems used in operating nuclear power plants worldwide.
In this role, you will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and utility customers to ensure the continued reliability and performance of RC & RPI equipment. You will apply sound engineering principles to support component obsolescence management, spare parts qualification, equipment troubleshooting, design changes, and customer support activities.
You will report to the Manager, Rod Control and Position Indication Systems. No relocation will be provided for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the lifecycle management and spare parts programs for RC & RPI Systems.
- Evaluate spare parts requirements and develop technical recommendations for replacement components.
- Perform technical assessments of component obsolescence and identify suitable replacement solutions.
- Prepare and review engineering documents, including technical evaluations, design change packages, test procedures, engineering calculations, procurement specifications, and technical reports.
- Support troubleshooting efforts for operating RC & RPI nuclear power plant equipment.
- Interface with customers to address technical questions, support outage activities, and resolve plant operational issues.
- Coordinate with supply chain, manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management organizations to support procurement and delivery of engineered spare parts.
- Support testing activities for RC & RPI system upgrades and new system builds.
- Review and revise engineering drawings, bills of material, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, typically Electrical or Mechanical.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Ability to travel within the U.S. and globally (<10% travel expected to support testing or installation activities).
- 3+ years of experience with nuclear power plant Instrumentation & Control systems.
- Experience with RC &RPI systems, reactor protection systems, or related nuclear plant equipment.
- Knowledge of analog and digital control systems.
- Familiarity with electronic component selection, qualification, and obsolescence management.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, testing, supplier qualification, or field service activities.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to $86,500 per year.
