About the role:
Lead and manage the engineering team that designs and supports Instrumentation & Monitoring Systems and Products used in nuclear operating plants.
You will report to the Director, Safety and Reactors Systems Engineering and will be hybrid in New Stanton, PA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible as a resource and technical manager for 15+ personnel.
- Responsible for ensuring the effective operations of the engineering team and meeting standards of quality (including effectively managing the corrective action program), cost (including utilizing resources to meet assigned targets), safety (both fostering a Nuclear Safety Culture as well as ensuring personnel and Industrial safety), reliability, timeliness and performance in engineering processes.
- Develop resources and lead people development activities. Prepare and successfully implement training and development plans with emphasis on long-term resource needs.
- Focus on developing engineering skills to ensure added value to the customer.
- This includes providing feedback, evaluation for merit and promotion as well as addressing performance issues.
- Continually scans the environment to verify products and services are adding value to both the customer and Westinghouse.
- Develop innovative solutions to create customer value in collaboration with appropriate Westinghouse organizations.
- Identify unmet customer needs through appropriate market channels, especially direct customer interaction.
- Oversee and successfully implement product development projects – considering "breakthrough" technologies and cost improvement objectives.
- Identify and allocate adequate resources for each project need, from the technical offer phase to the end of execution.
- Identify, justify & commit on the as-sold version of allocated hours required to perform engineering scope of work.
- Lead the team with a strategic focus, communicate vision for future and promote culture that aligns with organizational goals.
- Develop culture that values a safety conscious work environment,, personalized customer service and human performance fundamentals.
- Orchestrate and drive cost efficient product or service delivery which meets or exceeds business plan objectives.
- Responsible for group financial performance (including planning and forecast).
- This would include items like resource productivities and group cost centers / spending.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of leadership with instrumentation & control experience
- MBA preferred but not required
- Knowledge and experience in I&C systems, specifically in Plant monitoring systems and other nuclear plant systems are preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and experience with Neutron Flux Mapping System and Incore Instrumentation System (Electronics & Detectors) is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and experience with PCB and Box Build Assembly suppliers is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrate ability to lead the engineering of customer - oriented solutions which directly support Company's profitability goals.
- Demonstrated successful offer development skills in effectively estimating, planning and executing significantly complex projects/programs.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and a proven history of managing and effectively leading multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams and interfacing with multiple functional groups.
- Demonstrate clear, communication (including commitment to documentation of key customer/commercial decisions and effective communication of industry interactions).
- Oversee engineering activities and support opportunity management including conveying feedback on customer satisfaction and needs.
- Continually scans the environment to verify products and services are adding value to both the customer and Westinghouse.
- Demonstrates business skills, including consideration of financial impact when making decisions.
- Collaborates cross-functionally, as well as upstream and downstream, to create alignment and ensure work is done right the first time.
- Build consultative relationships with internal and external stakeholders: operations, maintenance, and engineering decision-makers to enhance Westinghouse's position as premier value-added supplier.
- Ability to get stakeholders to cooperate or act.
- Applies comprehensive engineering knowledge to lead through complex and difficult technical challenges.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $130,400 to $163,000 per year.
