We’re hiring a Shop Tech I to join our Westinghouse Parts Fulfillment Team. The Shop Tech in the I&C area assembles, troubleshoots, tests, or maintains circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics, using hand tools, power tools, and a soldering iron.
This opportunity is an Individual Contributor who performs multiple assignments in support of electrical/I&C/mechanical assembly, repair, refurbishment of equipment, components, or tooling systems. The role works under general direction with close supervision in which specific instructions are provided on all new assignments. Initial assignments are in a "training status” and all work is to be checked for quality and accuracy. Independent decision-making ability increases as experience is gained
Your Day to Day:
- Ability to comprehend basic mechanical and/or electrical drawings, codes, schematics, manuals, blueprints and procedures, and record data in the required form.
- Ability/knowledge of electrical equipment and/or painting methods, hand and power tool usage
- Apply knowledge of basic electronic theory and components to build or repair assemblies.
- Install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings, using rivets, bolts, or connectors
- Ability to Operate electrical/electronic test equipment.
- Successfully complete and maintain applicable site-specific safety training including Electrical Safety, Radiation Safety, Hazards Communication, Respiratory protection, lifting/handling, PPE use, and any other required training.
Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:
Who You Are:
- High School Diploma/equivalent
- Associates degree preferred
- 0 - 2 years relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection skills. Specific knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawings, assembly, and wiring.
- Preferred: Nuclear Industry experience.
- United States Department of Labor Journeyman Certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and multitasking skills.
