WEC-TEC Shop Technician

 

Westinghouse Parts Business has several unique manufacturing shops that are currently looking to fill available entry level Contracting positions in our Quality Inspector group, Machine shop, Electro-Mechanical Assembly shop, Breaker shop, Electrical Testing shop and Repair shop.

 

Essential job duties:

Read and follow drawings, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for machining, assembling, testing, repairing or refurbishing components.

Perform work that meets IPC (610, 620, J-Standard) and ANSI(Electrical/Mechanical) requirements, training will be provided.

The ability to perform inspections, examinations, and tests according to documented procedures and industry practices.

Identify, evaluate, recommend and implement approved processes or equipment improvements.

Learn, understand, and practice the appropriate quality, health, and safety procedures applicable to each work assignment.

Able to execute new work assignments based on specific instruction received.  Work is subject to routine peer checks and final verifications for quality and accuracy.  Technician is accountable for own work.

Confer with supervisors, planners, or engineers to review work activities or to resolve production problems.

Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Ability to take direction and effectively perform tasks to complete the requests.

 

The role works under general direction with close supervision in which specific instructions are provided on all new assignments. Initial assignments are in a "training status” and all work is to be checked for quality and accuracy. Independent decision-making ability increases as experience is gained.
