The EMEA Project Engineering group is seeking an Engineer II for the support of exciting business opportunities.  This engineer will support both the Decommissioning and Waste Management as New Plant opportunities in Europe, spanning the whole lifecycle of nuclear power facilities.

 

 

The Decommissioning and Waste Management groups are engineering groups providing various technical services and engineering for safe and reliable solutions for the nuclear backend. Typical work includes engineering and execution of dismantling operations for shutdown nuclear reactors, as well as design and development of waste treatment solutions. In your role, you will coordinate the development of specific tools for segmentation and handling of the reactor components under water or in shielded cells, as well as lead several waste equipment design development tasks and waste management problematics. This position offers many opportunities for creative problem solving as part of constant methods and tool improvements.

 

What your day-to-day activities looks like:

Development of Westinghouse technical proposal:

  • Assess incoming customer requests, develop response plan:
    • Compile existing technical design information across various technical areas into reports
    • Write/review a technical description, using support from appropriate experts
  • Integrate customer requirements and lead a technology team for the development of a technical concept
  • Produce estimates for engineering hours and purchases, integrating inputs from the different engineering groups
  • Lead the interaction with our Customers, presenting our technical solutions and leading the technical interactions with the relevant stakeholders
  • Support future new nuclear bid and proposal efforts in various European countries

 

Lead Westinghouse technical deliveries on our projects:

  • Develop and maintain cognizance of Westinghouse technical products through trainings and by interfacing with experts
  • Drive the delivery of engineering commitments on time and with the appropriate quality
  • Lead our global designers/engineers teams through tool development activities and calculations/studies
  • Follow up on tool manufacturing and delivery
  • Reconcile technical questions with on-site staff
  • Coordinate and resolve design changes and additions

 

What we need to see from you:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical engineering
  • At least 6 years of experience in a design integration or technical project delivery role
  • Ability to travel internationally as projects require (up to +/- 25% for peak times): The role involves some travel, especially in Europe but also in the rest of the world. You are rarely away for a long time and those trips are usually planned in advance.
  • Ability to establish effective networks across various functional areas
  • Effective coordination skills to manage the integration of technical inputs from various sources to meet customer expectations and relay comments to the various contributors
  • Fluency in English
  • Additional language(s) is a plus (French/Dutch or other European languages)
  • Previous experience in waste management and decommissioning projects is a plus
