Your Day-to-Day:
We are looking for an experienced Electrical or Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer with nuclear power plant experience to lead complex capital projects and modernization programs. This role is critical for our expanding portfolio of large-scale electrical and I&C upgrade projects, including traditional analog system replacements, digital control system implementations, and plant modernization efforts. You will bring expertise in nuclear electrical and I&C systems, large capital project leadership, and familiarity with modern digital technologies to serve as the technical authority on multi-million-dollar nuclear plant modifications.
This position is critical to our nuclear plant modernization strategy and the safe, reliable operation of our nuclear facilities. You will lead essential infrastructure upgrades, manage the transition from legacy to modern systems, and ensure continued plant reliability through electrical and I&C engineering. You will offer exposure to both traditional nuclear engineering and modern plant technologies while mentoring the next generation of nuclear engineers.
Important Responsibilities:
· Lead electrical and I&C capital projects, including power system upgrades, control system modernizations, legacy equipment replacements, and digital system implementations
· Design and implement electrical and I&C system modifications, including safety-related upgrades, non-safety system enhancements, and plant control system integrations
· Manage complex system modifications across multiple vendors, disciplines, and legacy/modern system interfaces while maintaining nuclear safety and regulatory compliance
· Coordinate project execution involving operations, engineering, vendors, and regulatory bodies, serving as the main contact for technical issues on large capital projects
· Oversee vendor technical deliverables for electrical and I&C systems, ensuring design integrity, testing protocols, and seamless integration with existing plant systems
· Apply NEI Standard Design Process and nuclear configuration management to ensure compliant electrical and I&C system modifications
· Provide technical oversight on cybersecurity implementation for digital systems, network segmentation, and regulatory compliance as applicable
· Mentor engineering teams on nuclear electrical/I&C principles, modern digital technologies, and nuclear design change processes
Who You Are:
· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, I&C Engineering, or related discipline
· Minimum 8 years nuclear power plant experience with at least 6 years in nuclear power plant design and operations
· Experience leading large capital projects ($5M+) involving multiple partners, vendors, and regulatory interfaces
· Experience with nuclear electrical and I&C systems, including power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and protection systems
· Knowledge of NEI Standard Design Process and nuclear design change control
· Experience with modern digital platforms (e.g., DCS, PLC systems, digital controllers) not required.
· Professional Engineering (PE) license not required.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with digital system upgrades and modern nuclear I&C platforms
· Background in electrical power systems, switchgear, motor control centers, and plant electrical distribution
· Familiarity with plant automation systems, SCADA, HMI design, and digital control technologies
· Knowledge of nuclear cybersecurity requirements for digital assets and control systems
· Experience with regulatory submissions for electrical/I&C modifications (license amendments, 50.59 evaluations)
· Project management certification or equivalent project leadership experience in nuclear environment
