GIS Technician- 2-year Hybrid Contract

Richmond, VA

Your Day-to-Day: 

• Edit and maintain GIS data to accurately reflect fiber optic cable installations as they are completed in the field.
• Work within GIS and database applications that model electric utility distribution systems and fiber optic networks.
• Interpret and apply functional business processes related to utility design, construction, and operations.
• Understand and manage data attributes that support utility and fiber network operations.
• Create and maintain a connected GIS model that accurately represents the electric distribution system.
• Perform and manage Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure GIS data reflects real-world conditions.
• Be available for emergency response and planned overtime as needed.

Who You Are: 

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team: 

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• GIS education or certification
• Fiber optics and electric utility experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Experience with spatial databases and data modeling.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and as-built documentation.
