BESS Field Commissioning Manager

Opportunity Overview:

BESS Field Commissioning Manager. This is a 1-year contract assignment (W-2). You will oversee the delivery/ installation, quality, plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA Testing, and startup of a Battery Energy Storage System and Solar Coupled Power systems. This involves subcontractors and OEMs. You will act as the Owner's representative. Your responsibilities will include overseeing aspects of the energy storage system, such as site work, installation, status reporting, safety, quality control, startup, commissioning, testing, and project close out.

You will manage/report on construction turnover, pre-energization, commissioning, and performance testing work performed by contractors and vendors at the project site. Reports To: Senior Project Manager

Location: Remote with 50% travel to Juno and job sites when needed.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Participate in safety program and audits
• Perform detailed system quality control inspections for completeness of installation vs. install manuals, engineering specifications and drawings and maintain detailed punch-list
• Perform system walkdowns for mechanical complete prior to turnover or energization
• Create and management of energization plans
• Preparation and review of project close out and testing documents
• Substation testing third-party management and Substation energization
• Metering testing
• ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning process management
• Review all Purchase Power Agreement and Interconnect Agreements to develop guidelines for performance testing
• Work with Engineering, Commissioning, and Business Management personnel to obtain agreement on testing requirements
• Develop a complete testing plan for assigned projects to ensure all deliverables across all relevant contractual documentation is met.
• Schedule and lead alignment meetings leading up to, and during performance testing periods, to ensure you align all required support parties and implement the test.

Who You Are:

• Battery Energy Storage Systems installation and startup
• Must understand the technical, performance, and integration of Li-Ion batteries as part of ESS
• Commissioning process creation
• Substation testing and startup
• Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting
• Understanding of containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, combiners
• Can do quality control inspections and punch-list management
• Experience with DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV)
• Familiarity to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic
• equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.).
• Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting
• Engineering or professional electrical career in power systems commissioning with min 100MW-hr or 5 EA energy storage systems and commissioning.
• We prefer a background with BESS. We prefer experience with SCADA.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $55.00/hr. to $60.00/hr.
