We are searching for Construction Supervisor – IV for 1 yr. contract assignment.

This project will be located at a cold fire plant replacing the voltage regulator excitation system. They currently have a turnkey contractor but we are looking an electrical engineer to provide additional QA/QC oversight in the field, to ensure the contractor is delivering by using a lead sheet or maintenance alteration log to ensure that the contractor is delivering in accordance with drawings/specifications, etc.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • This person would show up in the morning, attend the contractor's daily brief kickoff brief, go out in the field, takes some breaks as the same time as the contractor, etc.
  • This person would report to and touch base with the Construction Overhaul Management Superintendent to follow up to see where they're at in the projects, any issues, any additional help they might need, maybe any questions on performance expectations, etc.
  • This person is responsible for about 80% plant work, however, some desk work is required to Initial the logs to provide that QA/QC oversight check to verify that step was done as oversight role.
  • May be working with 10 to 15 contractors would be they would be overseeing or not supervising.
  • The site is also doing an Emerson digital turbine controls upgrade, so there will be some potential coordination needed from this resource as well within the Controls fleet engineering group.
  • The person work with a few engineering consultants  and have to talk with, specifically for the voltage regulator turbine controls interface.
  • On a routine basis, the person will be working between 5 to 7 people in addition to the 10-15 contractors that GE will bring in. 
  • Replacing it with a GE EX 2100 voltage regulator excitation system. Familiarity with GE would also be a plus!

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • 10 to 15 years’ experience and if they have specifically Mitsubishi equipment experience and GE voltage, specifically voltage regulator excitation experience and coal plant experience in addition to Emerson, Ovation controls and how they interact potentially with the Mitsubishi that is a huge plus.
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Must be able to read wiring connection drawings/ Schematics, ability to identify the wire identification and determine how to compare that to the drawings.
  • Understand locations on a terminal strip or wire should be terminated to.
  • Mitsubishi Equipment; familiarity with Mitsubishi exciter voltage regulator system, would be a plus.
  • Emerson controls for a GE as it relates to a combustion turbine. Knowledge of a generator/generator exciter with an AVR unit that controls it.
  • Will need extensive knowledge in that exciter AVR area of a generator and generating plants specifically to Emerson and GE.
