E&C Engineer - IV

We are searching for E&C Engineer – IV (Engineering and Construction Engineer) for a 1+ year contract assignment.  Possibility for extension on this assignment.

Locations: Onsite in Wheaton, WI and/or Shakopee, MN.

This is a field engineer position to keep construction project moving on schedule.  These are civil and mechanical construction projects for expansion of power generating facilities. The nature of these roles is a field engineering support role which is a traditional generation facility. The person will need to have familiarity with combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, an extensive mechanical and electrical installation. This role will require someone to be onsite to resolve those and other issues quickly to keep the construction process moving forward.  This person will be interacting with both construction contractors as well as the project management team and engineering consultant who is doing the design.   Will act on the owner’s behalf, in addition to 2-3 other construction management inspection crew members in addition to contractors with the construction force ranging from 50-150 onsite at peak times/construction season. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Will have one or multiple “plan of the day” meetings that will give this person a good understanding of what’s happening onsite that day. The rest of the day might be a bit different depending on the need at hand.
• Spending time in field to resolve discrepancies, supporting central project management office, and there may be longer term items that they might work on in regard to future equipment delivery (i.e., finalizing the foundation installation)
• Reporting, helping to assemble weekly construction status updates and status updates.
• May be times when the construction management group may not be available, and this person may need to step into this role to cover.
• Mixed of tasks and reporting. 
• Weekly constructions updates.

Qualifications / Education / Experience:

• Must have a Degree in Engineering such as mechanical or electrical.
• 5-10 yrs. experience in construction, design drawing and working closely with construction/field crews. 
• Field experience as there will be review and implementation of technical documentation.

• Previous construction support role or working for a design consultant and experience on the owner side.
• Operate independently on the construction site, act on the client’s behalf to support the construction process/schedule as efficient as possible.
• Project management background and had related experience or credentials it would be beneficial, however not required.
• Utility experience helpful but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills in addition to strong written/verbal communication. Self-driven/ability to operate independently. 
• Should be a team player and have the ability to effectively problem solve.
