We are searching for a E&C Engineer ll (Electrical Engineer) on behalf of our client.  This is a 1 yr. contract assignment.  This scope of work for this electrical engineering position in Colorado includes overseeing and contributing to large-scale wind projects. As a project engineer, this person will be responsible for providing electrical expertise, with a focus on evaluating project drawings and handling requests for information (RFIs) across multiple projects.

 

Project Overview includes Large Projects near Siebert, CO; Two large wind facilities, which is starting construction soon, followed by a third wind facility that will begin construction shortly after these first two. Lastly, there are smaller capital Projects within the CO region that the engineer will also have opportunities to work on. This person should have renewable generation project experience and should be willing/able to travel to the site. Should have 2-3 years or equivalent experience with other renewables as well.

Pay Rate: $71.00/hr. 

 

 

Responsibilities

A typical day for this electrical engineering position will vary based on the project phase:  

  • Early Project Phase: The day will focus on defining the scope of work and developing technical specifications for the project. This may involve collaborating with other engineers and project stakeholders to ensure all requirements are clearly outlined.
  • Engineering/Procurement Phase: Once agreements are made for engineering and equipment, the focus will shift to evaluating drawings, studies, and analyses. This will involve reviewing the technical documentation to confirm that everything aligns with the project specifications and requirements.
  • Construction Phase: During construction, the day will be more hands-on, assisting contractors by addressing any questions they may have about the project. This could include clarifying details about the design or construction process and troubleshooting any issues that arise on-site. The overall responsibilities will shift from planning and reviewing to providing direct support during the construction phase.

 

The person should have knowledge of how to resolve a RFI and NCR noncompliance requests. Will work with the lead electrical engineer on the project to be able to understand/interpret design drawings and managing the compliance of the construction to the design drawings and managing RFI requests.

 

  • The electrical engineer will be supporting a multifunctional group that includes various internal business units and external stakeholders.
  • This position will primarily collaborate with facility operations and other internal departments, such as Siting and Land Rights: To coordinate on land-use matters, especially for projects involving land development, such as wind installations in addition to Environmental Teams: Due to the nature of moving earth and other environmental impacts, collaboration will be necessary to ensure regulatory compliance.   • Key Players will be Internal Stakeholders: Facility operations, siting and land rights, environmental teams, and other project engineers and External Entities such as County and State Agencies: Assisting with obtaining local and state permits for large construction projects and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
  • This role involves a mix of technical collaboration and regulatory coordination with both internal and external teams. This resource will also work with EPC contractors in addition to a Project specific team consisting of project manager and engineers, construction field team, construction managers, and construction/civil inspectors. This resource will also be working with the Project controls cost/scheduling staff.

 

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited school or strong/commensurate experience.
  • 5-7 years of electrical engineering experience with 2-3 years specifically in the renewable generation project space (construction or engineering design).
  • Must have very strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong analytical [thinking] skills to resolve answering questions, troubleshooting design conflicts, etc.
  • Organization is key in this role as they will be interfacing with several different team, tracking and documenting. Resource should have knowledge of/familiarity with NCRs, RFIs, and the ability to understand and manage the scope of a contract.
