About the role:

Safety Specialist - 12 Months

Easter, TX

Work with the Superintendent of Construction to identify project risks.

Work with Sr. Safety Lead to implement safety philosophies and best practices. Work with team members to promote safe work practices

Reporting to the supervisor who provides this position, limited direction no one reviews the work regulary. You will consult with the supervisor for Company or departmental vision clarifications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Work with the Superintendent of Construction to identify project risks.

Work with Sr. Safety Lead to implement safety philosophies and best practices.

Work with team members to promote safe work practices.

Study the effectiveness of the project specific safety plan and suggest improvements for all projects.

Provide training to inspectors regarding the contractor safety plan and company policies.

Monitor compliance of the contractor safety plan and project specific safety plan by performing and documenting on-site audits.

Help investigate all incidents to determine root cause(s) and develop recommendations to prevent recurrence. Promote good safety culture (Safety Above All Else).

Evaluate working conditions and recommend improvements in safety and health methods and practices.

Develop project injury and near miss logs.

Communicate Safety goals to Contractors field staff.

Conduct and document safety inspections. Review accident, injury, and illness report to identify problem areas related to safety.

Help to identify corrective action investigate and analyze causes, patterns, or trends

Prepare and submit reports relative to the project.

Participate in pre-job hazard analysis to prepare for construction.

Facilitate and ensure that all project safety meetings are adequate and held as scheduled.

Perform comprehensive hazard analysis and provide training and reinforcement of site-specific health and safety procedures.

Ensure all safety plans and programs are implemented according to changes in regulations or process/policy/equipment.

Ensure that all new employees on site are trained.

Provide site specific safety orientation to all personnel entering the worksite. Participate in Pre-Job meetings Set and Lead by example Basic

Sr. H&S Specialist may require performing the tasks of the Health & Safety Field Specialist (see H&S Job Description - Dept. Ref. Code T-SAF-020) for individual projects if needed.

 

Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications include: OSHA 30 hour Competent person (excavation) from an accredited learning organization

First Aid / CPR trained and qualified

Five (5) years of relevant Health & Safety work experience or degree in safety and three(3) years of relevant Health & Safety work experience

Experience using defined processes for managing Health & Safety risks

Accident & Incident investigation experience

Energy industry experience

Degree in safety related field, OSHA Outreach Instructor, HAZWOPER Certified, Asbestos Supervisor Certified, Pipeline and or facilities construction experience
