About the role:

As an Area Manager for the Melting Department you will oversee all operations within the fourth step of the zirconium production process. You will ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality transformation of zirconium sponge—received from the Reductions Department—into alloyed ingots that meet stringent customer specifications.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Operations and be located at Ogden, UT. You will support this role 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconstitute long-term plant Safety, Quality, and Delivery goals into daily operational actions inside of the department

  • Direct department personnel to achieve safety, quality, and delivery improvements consistent with plant goals, and track performance against those goals.

  • Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed, taught, and held responsible for the standards and related policies, both plant and departmental, and enforce them with supervisory oversight.

  • Guide a safety conscious work environment focused on a zero-accident vision for the department and the plant.

  • Embody the Mission statement for the department in everyday interactions.

  • Create an environment that encourages and support employee participation through involvement in decision-making and implementing change.

  • Develop plans for meeting customer requirements; ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and government regulations.

  • Maintain high employee morale in an environment of dynamic production load requirements and technological changes.

  • Responsible for the skill and career development of all employees in the Melting department.

  • Collaborate with other departments to help everyone meet departmental, plant, department, and corporate goals.

  • Implement solutions to short- and long-term technical issues often requiring the obtaining of resources from outside of the department.

  • Establish staffing and budget requirements consistent with plant goals and monitor results.

  • Use department, plant, department and corporate resources, to address resolution of important issues.

  • Communicate with plant staff management on the implementation and maintenance of plant policy

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical, business, or engineering focus preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years' management experience.

  • Demonstrated safe working practices on the individual level and across supervisory responsibility.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes.

  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools

  • Fundamental knowledge of business and performance improvement technology and applications.

  • Strategic implementation and cost savings.

  • Familiarity with budgets and financial statements.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $112,400 to $140,500 per year.
