Your Day to Day:

  • Provide Chemist support within the Laboratory and Manufacturing departments at a zirconium manufacturing facility, for use in commercial nuclear power industry. 
  • Lead and support material testing in a Laboratory environment.
  • Leads and performs a variety of testing activities including development of tests and processing of test data.
  • Leads and performs a variety of analysis activities to assist in the resolution of Manufacturing quality issues.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and support for technical development of Laboratory team members.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, and other internal functional groups in support of various programmatic activities.
  • Specification of new Laboratory processes, as well as development, installation, and qualification of new testing equipment.
  • Ensure process compliance of Laboratory testing using statistical quality control methods.
  • Suggest and lead opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Troubleshoots instrumentation and equipment for Laboratory to ensure conformance to established standards and maintain operability.
  • Collaborate with Laboratory Chemists to identify new and or improved technology and develop test methods.
  • Safely perform experiments and develop standardized operating procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, which includes troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance, performing calibrations, and minor repairs.


Required to be successful in the role:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry is required. ACS certification is preferred.
  • 2+ years of applicable laboratory experience required.
  • Familiar with analytical instrumentation.
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
