Shipping and Receiving Operator
Ogden, Utah
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive oral and written instructions from manager and perform assignments in accordance with standard departmental procedures.
- Load and unload trucks and other vehicles; operate forklift, tow motor and other material handling equipment to move, distribute and store materials.
- Receive materials, verify quantities, weight, etc., and process receipt using computer terminal. Verify, record and report damage, shortages and overages for filing of claims and make adjustments for discrepancies encountered in receipt versus invoicing by supplier. Deliver storeroom and received goods to the designated plant-site areas accurately and timely while complying with applicable safety and material handling requirements.
- Maintain required files for receiving function, such as waybills, freight bills, air bills, shipping orders, packing lists, etc. Comply with routine instructions identified on the generated move ticket, including materials delivered to Product Assurance for receipt inspection.
- Receive equipment, material, supplies, tools, etc., to the storeroom inventory, verify proper count, weight identification and conformance to WZ procedures and specification. Retrieve material from warehouse for issuance to plant departments, when requested.
- Maintain stores area in optimum manner to facilitate efficient storage and retrieval of materials and supplies following prescribed methods of storage, identification and stock location.
- Maintain stock inventory levels by reviewing computer records of material receipt and issuance, utilizing cycle counting list, making appropriate inventory adjustments, and making necessary inventory counts.
- Package, mark, stencil, and weigh product, materials and parts for shipment. Keep up to date on and apply Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, International Air Transport Association and International Maritime Organization regulations applicable in the packaging, labeling marking and shipment of hazardous materials.
- Requisition shipping cartons and containers to appropriate customer and WZ specifications, often determining the dimensions, materials and support structure for optimum strength/cost ratio.
- Release shipments to carriers verifying accuracy and attachment of packing list, shipping documents, export documents, bills of lading, etc. Notify carriers of schedules, routing, sizes and handling requirements in conjunction with traffic releases.
- Work in accordance with all safety and health hygiene regulations.
- Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping in and about buildings and maintain an orderly work area at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
A successful candidate would be familiar with and/or have experience with the following:
- A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
- Six months to a year of experience required.
- Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, goggles, etc.)
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
- Mobile equipment certified
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to wear required PPE (respirators, goggles, etc.) and be able to work with hazardous chemicals, must be clean shaven every day
*Work schedule: Full-time positions. Regular shifts are Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
