General Job Function:

 

Develop project management talents for OPS I&C EMEA organization as per identified needs, manage dedicated active project managers, providing effective support to project managers, and drive regular portfolio-wide initiatives around on time delivery (OTD) and margin as delivered (MAD), as well as critical actions requested by the organization to deliver and / or recover project execution excellence.

 

OPS I&C EMEA organization portfolio includes tens of concurrent active projects delivering annually revenue of about $70-80M (with over $200M of current backlog) and ranging in size from small task-orders to large and complex programs of up to $130M and requiring significant financial, technical, contractual, and resource commitments.

 

Project Management Team director (Sr. Manager) for OPS I&C EMEA organization shall be responsible for (1) monitoring, reviewing (organizing formal review process for project portfolio), KPI understanding and risk identification of business project portfolio, (2) proactive support of business PM team and coordination of support from Project Control organization and other parts of organization critical for proper execution of projects (GOS, GSC, legal, project support, etc.), (3) management, training and further development of PM team, (4) establishment and maintenance of PM L3 procedures for OPS I&C EMEA organization, guiding and standardizing PM works in OPS I&C EMEA organization in close cooperation with EPMO organization, (5) project management of assigned Project portfolio (if assigned).

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

TALENT & DEVELOPMENT

 

  • Resource manage assigned PM team members
  • Develop project management talents for the organization, lead recruitment efforts to build robust pipeline of internal and external project managers:

    • Accelerate PM training and qualification efforts and make a step change to bringing PM qualification in line with expectation
    • Revisit PM competency assessment, monitor performance of PM team, identify areas where PM weaknesses need to be addressed and make recommendations to the concerned PMs and business leaders
  • Serve as Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) charged with screening project manager assignments to ensure fit for purpose of the complexity, size and scope of projects in alignment with the PM qualification program conditions
  • Organize regular PM team meetings (at least bi-monthly) to (1) inform about and endorse use of L3 PM procedures, (2) following / monitoring PM team’s training curriculum and ensure timely PM certification for selected / active PMs, (3) share Lessons Learned and Best Practices across project portfolio and PM team members
  • Review PM coverage in OPS I&C EMEA organization and take actions to address any lack of PM resources and surplus of PM resources; PM management team coverage shall reflect regional need of business
  • Develop and maintain L3 PM procedures guiding and standardizing PM works in OPS I&C EMEA organization in close cooperation with EPMO organization
  • Develop and implement formal, rigorous, and disciplined project management processes to improve project performance and enhance consistency in execution.
  • Be the single point of contact for EPMO organization; regularly monitor EPMO procedures, processes and guidelines (including participating in EPMO calls, meetings, learning sessions, etc.) and reflect applicable impact to OPS I&C EMEA PM execution in respective L3 PM procedures; ensure clear and transparent communication with any applicable updates to PM team; provide needed operational feedback (including necessary challenges as needed) back to EPMO organization.

 

PROJECT PREPERATION, EXECUTION MANAGEMENT, SUPPORT & OVERSIGHT

 

  • Support I&C tendering and sales organizations to formulate project execution strategies and cost-estimates, including risk registers, for new business opportunities
  • Organization, execution (including taking actions and following up on those) of regular project reviews in accordance with established L3 PM procedure
  • Regular reporting (monthly) of project portfolio KPIs and identification of any project risks / challenges – take actions with PM to eliminate / mitigate identified risks / challenges; if unable to resolve / properly address critical risks / challenges shall be early escalated to OPS I&C EMEA director and respective PM (if not involved already)
  • Proactive support of PM team (as requested by PMs) in project execution of business portfolio; includes regular (as fitting – monthly / quarterly) interactions/meetings with all Project managers with recorded notes and actions; includes also cross-organization support for PM in case PMs are unable to get needed tractions from cooperating parts of organization
  • Lead systematic and regular initiatives around on-time delivery and margin as-delivered across the organization project portfolio
  • Lead PM team to meet or exceed organization project portfolio (MAD>MAS) financial objectives as a whole as well as for all individual projects
  • Support meeting of financial goals of the organization (be important element of organization success in this area)
  • Take part of any critical project review, complex offer development and related action plans, provide support as needed:

    • Take part of critical reviews as needed
    • Contribute to the elaboration of relevant action plans prior or after review
    • Support the execution of the action plans to achieve desired outcome
  • Serve on special assignments within challenged projects (including claim negotiations) to support turnaround and recovery planning and action as requested by organization leadership

 

 

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:

 

  • 15+ years working experience PM field
  • 7+ years in power generation I&C industry (bonus 3+ years in nuclear power generation I&C industry)
  • 5+ years working experience in EMEA region
  • Demonstrated success implementation of at least three (3) I&C project in the role of PM
  • PMP Certification, MBA Certification
