The Leader, Contract Management will be responsible for driving Contract Management excellence across the BU segment working closely with Project Execution; Finance, Legal & Contracts, commercial, tendering, and EPMO, to provide independent oversight and operational support to entire portfolio of projects across the segment within the BU.
This position is eligible for a remote working arrangement.
Your Day to Day:
- Direct and manage Contract Managers
- Determine BU Contract Management staffing mix with input from BU/segment leaders, optimizing organizational resource costs and contract performance. Influence and persuasion skills shall be used with BU/segment managers who are solely focused on project team cost reduction. Continuously monitor contract financial results and adjust staffing as needed to validate appropriate staffing levels.
- Develop and support BU/Segment CM employees to maintain an effective contract management organization.
- Contribute to strategic invitations to tender for major and complex projects in particular in accordance with applicable policies to assist, guide, and stimulate the sales, tenders, bid and project teams on defining contractual and commercial issues so as to ensure that all contracts are concluded by optimizing the risks and opportunities related to the contract during the execution.
- Coordinate with BU/segment leaders to develop project managers/directors, project controls, and project support professionals to improve understanding of contractual risks and mitigation strategies.
- Support all Segment organizations during the full contract life cycle, including claims management.
- Financial Performance
- Provide contract management subject matter expert (SME) advisory support to complex or highly attentive and other critical projects across the BU (or assigned BU segment) to optimize the financial performance, including reducing project/contract risks, minimize margin erosion, and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
- Work with partner functions to formulate strategies and cost estimates for new projects and to minimize internal blocking points that could impact the BU/segment performance.
- Monitor and report on contractual financial performance indicators and assist EPMO and Finance to develop enhanced contract reporting tools, training, and other advisory support, as needed
- Customer and Supplier Negotiations
- Development or approval of contract changes and claims negotiation strategies, advising the execution team and senior management to consider all possible outcomes.
- Accountable for participation in complex negotiations and supervising BUCMs with less complex customer and commercial negotiations surrounding change and claims.
- Prepare executive reports as required based on possible negotiations to clearly articulate areas of opportunity, mitigation, and results
- Drive Continuous Improvement
- Partner with EPMO and Business Segment Leadership team to implement best contract management practices in compliance with Westinghouse Global Contract Management Policy.
- Communicate process improvement recommendations to the CM COE for future policy enhancements.
- Provide advisory support to BU/segment operations team in strategy deployment initiatives, as appropriate.
- Lead contract management transformation efforts within the BU/Segment, including implementation of WAVE initiatives.
- Maintain good working relationships with the various stakeholders including external customers, suppliers, internal partners
- Mentoring Responsibilities
- Mentor less experienced project directors and managers to ensure project teams understand all contract commitments as well as internal reporting obligations.
- Provide advice and employee development for effective communication of contract issues and recommendations to senior management.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Contract Management, legal, or related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Business, Engineering Administration, Legal, or related discipline.
- 12 +years of contract management experience.
- Contract Management qualification completed or in process.
- Certification or other equivalent project management certification.
- Knowledge of Westinghouse products and services.
- Knowledge of nuclear utility industry and regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of global marketing principles and industry practices, strategic planning processes, negotiation approaches, commercial terms and conditions and contract administration.
- Understanding of Westinghouse commercial / finance policies, business planning and processes.
- Knowledge of Contract Management principles and knowledge areas with complex and public projects.
- Ability to interpret contracts and establish strategic execution approaches.
- Ability to drive organizational change and lead adoption of best practices.
- Ability to explain, advocate, influence and align organization to strategies and priorities; drive change and implement operational improvements and best practices. Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary, matrix teams with internal and external resources.
- Proficient in English
- Other languages as required.
